Don’t understand why the speaker appointed an anti-gunnner for two very important chairmanships but wake me up when they start counting actual vote on gun bills.

Then I’ll get my bowls in an uproar.

Why are Democrats leading any committees?

We have overwhelming control of the House, but the Leadership constantly stabs us in the back.

Cute. But the problem is that every pro-gun bill is DOA now. Won’t even get a hearing. And conversely, any ANTI-gun bill now gets a chance.

We Texans are always getting screwed by our politicians.

Bonnen was Straus’ pick for a successor. Meet New Speaker, Same as Old Speaker; conservatives in TX are about to lose it all because the “Republican” House won’t deliver on the promises.

Well, this is an Texican problem and they voted this person in.

Far away in Tennessee we had Beth Harwell as speaker and we have had problems with her advancing new gun laws. At least we didn’t give her an higher office(governorship) and many have the opinion she lost badly because of it.

No recall is allowed for any state official in TX; the only recalls are at the local level if specified in the city charters.

Even before the Republicans became the majority, the TX “democracy” had permitted a few “Republican” chairmen of some committees. Party is not the defining factor in committee chairs in TX.

People in Bonnen’s district will never learn or understand what he has done here.

I see no signs of intelligence in him.

While I disagree with most of his domestic and certainly his immigration policies, having spent time with the man, you're incorrect in that regard.

The Bushes are Republicans because that is what wins in Texas...if they were in CT they would be Democrats... the problem is most Republicans think the voting base is so stupid that they can film themselves walking a fence line every two or six years and get re-elected...and for the most part...they are right.

We just got rid of a guy who was our version of John McCain or Paul Ryan. “Get did of that bastard Straus!” we’d demand, and they’d happily put him back. Looks like we just got another version of him.

I see. I am not familiar but since he “represents” a part of suburban Houston, perhaps there are some media that might inform his constituents?

It’s that TX people won’t take the time to research candidates. They just rubber stamp familiar names.

That is part of it, though I do not think that particular sin is unique to Texas.

The other part is that democrats know they can't get elected in Texas except on the border and in certain very specific locales, so they run as republicans an lie about their intentions and beliefs. Once in office, the prerogatives of incumbency helps to keep them there.

You are aware that we at FR are a tiny minority right? The vast majority of elected officials and voters who vote R are "middle of the road conservatives".
