Let’s hope Ann Coulter wakes him up.

If Nancy can stop the SOTU this year, she can stop it next year too.

This makes Trump look VERY VERY WEAK.

He did not cave. Postponing is not caving because he did not change his determination to get funding for the Wall. He’ll stick to his guns.

NOTHING says he has to give it in front of Congress. Send them a damned letter (like they used to do) and give a broadcast address from the Oval Office. That will deprive her of HUGE camera time!

I have no idea why Trump is going along with Pelosi’s BS - he has an invitation to speak in front of the Senate, and I hope he takes them up on it and uses the opportunity to rip the Democrats for their open-borders policies.

President Trump making it very clear that Pelosi cares for neither the Constitution or long-standing tradition.

This can only reflect bad on her.

I just wish Republicans at least made Schumer also go on the record with a Senate vote to block Trump from speaking to the People, too.

Something tells me that McConnell wasn't up for that bit of show - too much of a hit to his cherished Senate traditions.

Let’s remember that Trump is generally very clever and knows what he’s doing. Methinks he will use the delay as another opportunity to harpoon Her Stretchness Pelosi.

I think it is the right move.

If he gives it Tuesday - it is totally partisan, no Democrats, probably no SCOTUS, and limited TV coverage. No one will focus on anything but the divide - the government being shut down. Will highlight the divisiveness, not the tone of a SOTU.

If he waits until after the shutdown, he can explain the deal (he will have to give a little), put his spin on it and really try to start healing the incredible vitriol which exists out there.

To win in 2020, he needs to look like the adult in the room, this is a good first step, as painful as it is to give in to Pelosi.

If ya’ll don’t think President Trump has this covered and will come up with a solution, then you have not been paying attention.

My loyalty and support has not changed, and I believe he knows what he is doing.

He shows that he respects the 3 branches of government and will not go uninvited. He also shows his willingness to negotiate to bring the shutdown to an end. Nancy is all about disrespect for more than half of the United States’ population and voters. She has also given herself more vacation days as Speaker, than she has worked, but keeps getting paid and paid more than anyone in Congress.

What Trump should do is send a written SOTU to Pelosi and McConnell. Then, when the children stop their temper tantrums, he can just say “No Thanks” to Nanzi and refer her to the written version, which is more than sufficient under the Constitution.

There is NO SUBSTITUTE VENUE for the state of the union address. NONE!

I wanted to see Trump “convene” Congress to FORCE them to listen, but of course it would not be in the House chamber.

Calmer heads prevailed. There is nothing significant about the “date” of the SOTU.

The pageantry, the pomp and circumstance, the imagery, are iconic. A tremendous opportunity for the president to address the country from the pulpit of our government about whatever he chooses for as long as he chooses.

He would lose all this by changing the venue or by mailing it in.

Chock this up, for now, as a “win” for Pelosi, but at what COST? A HIGH price me thinks.

I think the idea might be to make Pelosi look like she’s petty and dug in, while Trump is trying to work for a solution. But, trying to win the Public Relations aspect is never an option for a Republican in Washington.
