‘Have I not been clear about the wall?’ Pelosi signals Trump still won’t get what he wants
Roll Call ^ | 1-25-2019 | Lindsey McPherson

ANALYSIS — It took 35 days, but President Donald Trump ultimately caved to Democratic demands that he reopen the government before they’d entertain negotiations on border security. And in 21 more, Trump will have to decide whether to give in again, because he’s not likely to get what he wants.

Trump agreed Friday to back a three-week continuing resolution that will reopen the government through Feb. 15. But he is not giving up on his quest to secure funding for wall along the southern border.

“We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier,” Trump said as he concluded remarks from the Rose Garden announcing the deal to temporarily reopen government. “If we don’t get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on Feb. 15 again or I will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the Constitution of the United States to address this emergency.”

I hope you are correct. I am tired of the tweets with the big talk and nothing getting done while the criminals are getting away with one crime after another.

I don’t think they will win if they impeach. Americans wouldn’t want him impeached for this. If he doesn’t do it now, it will never be done. The courts will delay but Trump must do everything n his power to build the wall.

Lincoln told the SC to pound it when he suspended haebius corpus and FDR on trying nazi sabaturs. Granted it was during war time for both. So I doubt trump would do so and face removal. If SC went against his constitutional powers here though we as a nation are finished unfortunately as the president would be reduced to a check signer and glad hander.

Well the House would need 55 votes to overturn a Trump veto. Ain’t gonna happen.

I hate to admit it, but Trump is “pussy whipped.”

(For an alpha male to be humiliated like this by an asshole like pelosi tells me all I need to know about his resolve).

‘Have I not been clear about the wall?’ Pelosi signals Trump still won’t get what he wants...Not really, Nanny No - you voted for a wall several times during your career, and have never explained why all of a sudden you see it as "immoral" and "ineffective" - we're left to conclde that your only opposition is really partisan - obstructing President Trump - party before country, that's what's clear to me......

Wow! You caught me - 46 000 posts since May 1998, and all that time I’ve been undercover waiting for my opportunity to depress YOUR morale.

We will have to wait & see. I am not tired of the tweets. They are information & psych ops against the other side.

It’s a war not a single battle. So far we have made a lot of progress. The other side has expended a lot of energy while destroying their brand.

Agreed.

While the 75 (and lower) IQ dullards are preoccupied with:
Football,
Trannies,
Old Country Buffet,
Processed foods,
etc.

Can’t understand, because...they’re idiots...is that “conventional” politics ARE NOT and CAN NOT fix the problems that we face.

Can you imagine what the fallout would be if a tertorist attack occurred during this shutdown? Do you think, I dunno...THE SUPERBOWL (happening in 8 days) would make a GREAT target for terrorists? Hmmmm???

But again, when one can only think about “What time does ‘Old Country Buffet’ open? ‘Cause I can’t miss the beginning of ‘The Price Is Right’!”, it’s REALLY hard, no IMPOSSIBLE to be able to think ~a week ahead.

“....and he will lose the election with nothing going on on the wall....”

This idea that President Trump’s reelection depends solely on whether the wall gets built is simplistic at best.

It is true that building the wall was a key campaign promise, and that he must be seen as a “promise keeper” in order to retain his base of support and to attract crossovers disappointed in the Democrat party.

In my opinion, Donald Trump has already more than earned the title “promise keeper” - and that title is earned not only for what he’s accomplished but also for his efforts. After all, he’s not a King - he heads up one of three coequal branches of government. He is turning the Judicual branch conservative (as promised), but We the People have a responsibility to elect like-minded MAGA leaders to the legislature - and we have not accomplished that. That is not the President’s failure.

I think POTUS will be easily reelected - wall or no wall - as long as he keeps trying to keep his promises - I assume he will.

Remember, even for those of us who consider the wall to be their “single issue” - Donald Trump is still going to be our best prospect for getting a wall in 2020. He’ll still get our vote.

It pops up from time to time. Could never be made today as it is defiantly pro-Israeli with the bad guys as pro-Pali/Mohammadan sympathizers (specifically an East German Communist woman who recruited a deranged ex-Vietnam vet to bomb the Super Bowl in Miami). Robert Shaw was superb as the Mossad agent in one of his last roles before his untimely death (back when we used to have men instead of twinks playing 'male' action roles).

After all, he’s not a King
===========

You're right, he has more power than any King who has ever lived, too bad he hasn't learned to use that power.

He’ll still get our vote.
=========

I don't think it will be enough. When you take into consideration he lost the popular vote by 80,000, and you ad 4 years to the age of the millions of anchor babies who are here and will eligible to vote in 2020, I see no clear guarantee of victory.
