Of course, my memory could be playing tricks but I don’t think we were hurt at all during Donna but I clearly remember the rain. Sterno! My sisters-in-law, like all good Italian-Americans, have Sterno and chaffing dishes for all occasions - including hurricanes, no doubt.

Well we were on a small island, off Long Island, so we REALLY got hit badly, in that '60 hurricane. If we had been in NYC, we probably wouldn't lost power.

Sterno works well to keep already cooked food hot; however, cooking on it, imparted a "sterno" taste to the soup. :-(

LOL...I had forgotten all about Sterno & chaffing dishes; those of Italian heritage aren't the only ones who had those, back in the '50s! :-)
