The lasting visual image from Tuesday night's State of the Union address was captured by photographer Doug Mills. It featured House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., applauding President Donald Trump in a way that can only be described as . . . withering? Pitying? Lucille Bluth-like in its contemptuousness?
Its power was in its restraint. Pelosi was not booing the president. She was acknowledging his words. She was providing him, in the technical sense, with exactly what he was hoping for: approval. But this was a derogatory clap, make no mistake. This was mockery wearing a half-baked costume of politeness.

President Trump has done a masterful job training her too!
Lefties are trying to spin the SOTU as a Pelosi victory. What a joke.
What bothered me more was how long it took her to decide to sit down after standing to applaud and the ream of papers she shuffled through while Pres. Trump spoke.
History will not remember Pelosi's clap, but it will record Trump's successes.
That is common for soemone suffering with dementia. She might not have been sure of her balance nor where the seat was behind her.

She kinda reminded me of Jennifer Rubin on O’Reilly’s old show the way she way frantically shuffling her papers when she was too embarrassed to clap.
And that shuffling of the papers was simply breathtaking in divulging her Uber-snarkiness. The juicy thing is, she was had, and had with a vengeance by PDJT.

Probably knew she would do that and embarrass herself.
Re. handing off a copy of the SOTUA - It’s ALWAYS done that way.
That was a Joan Rivers kiss to her sisters and a permission slip to act like their gay lifestyle was just sanctioned by the Republican party.
So Ben Carson’s clapping was not normal, and Pelosi’s not normal clapping is great? These people really do need help.
What is the takeaway here, other than making America great offends Pelosi and other liberals.
What were those giant folder things she was so intent on ridiculously waving around?
I wonder if Donald J. Trump has to pay rent for the space he takes up inside her head. Wow, used to think that people sent to Washington were to strike a deal, make things happen, negotiate. Trump is an extra good negotiator and she could get about anything she wants for that wall. She doesn;t know POLITICS.
I’m glad Trump caught her at it.
I watched the speech on Fox, and a different camera angle was quickly resorted to when she did that. I assume the networks had a common camera feed.
It was a taunt.
I have noticed that when people act disrespectful, they think the act of disrespect elevates them to a position of superiority.
They can’t understand that any fool can act disrespectful, and usually does.

I don’t usually defend Nancy Pelosi, but I think there’s a reason for her strange clapping.
She has wrinkled palms.
Wrinkled.
Her palms are wrinkled.
You’ve got to be like 800 years old to have wrinkled palms.
They might want to check the pyramids to see if she’s coming and going from one.
