It's great that members of Congress have located specific legislative language permitting the president to build a border wall, but I'm wondering: Has anybody read the Constitution?
It says:
"The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States."
"(The president) shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed."
With millions of foreigners illegally pouring across our border, it sure looks like the laws are not being "faithfully executed." I wonder if the COMMANDER IN CHIEF has any authority to stop it.
The Constitution was expressly designed to make it difficult to do what our military does all the time -- fight wars around the globe -- and easy to do what our military never does -- defend our own country.
Congress was given power to "declare war," but not to "make war," for the precise purpose of stalling the march to war. It was a selling point that the legislative branch takes forever to do anything.
But we had a country to protect, so the Constitution gave the energetic, fast-moving president the authority to deploy the military defensively.

You are the ranting snowflake kid, and there are many on this very thread saying precisely what I say... Ann is right on immigration.
Get your mommy, your nurse, anyone with far better reading comprehension than you have, to read the posts to you and keep count of ALL for you/Ann and those against. *snicker*
Ann is right on immigration.
I think it’s okay if you’re lost.
“Ann Coulter should be considered anathema on this Forum.”
Yet there was a time when she was the darling of this forum and could write no wrong.
If you’re lost, buy a compass and map, yes?
Ann...is that YOU again? LOL
That was long ago, when she was a virulent anti-Clintonista; as we all were.
CBS Poll:
97% of Republicans liked the SOTU address
82% of Independents liked the SOTU address
30% of Democrats liked the SOTU address
209 Total of those three figures for compatison’s sake
This means:
03% of Republicans didn’t like the SOTU address
18% of Republicans didn’t like the SOTU address
70% of Republicans didn’t like the SOTU address
91 Total of those three figures for comparison’s sake
So it’s 209 to 91 in favor of Trump and his presentation.
Ann, you are what is commonly known as a buzz-kill.
This was a widely recognized incredible SOTU presentation. It was widely approved of.
Here you were, with the chance to say anything you wanted to boost morale and help move people to our side, and all you could come up with is weasel word carping.
With folks on our side like you to shatter momentum, what’s the point of giving a good speech? People on the Left can now read your words, and realize you didn’t like it.
Poor Ann can’t think her way out of a paper bag these days.
Trump has just given the Democrats a last chance to come on board with regard to building a wall on our border.
If they don’t by the 15th, he will have all the ammunition he needs to sell the public on the idea, that the Democrats refuse to protect this nation.
He can then declare a National Emergency and order the wall built. Who could make the case he hadn’t tried everything?
That’s the whole point of this. He acted in good faith, and the Democrats did exactly what he knew they would.
Is there a Conservative alive who hasn’t grasped this?
No, Anne simply doesn’t qualify any longer.
Ann, go back to dating Bill Maher. You two deserve each other.
Thank you to Ronniesque for mentioning I listed Republicans in the three categories covering non-approval figures.
It should have read:
Republicans > Republicans
Republicans > Independents
Republicans > Democrats
Thank you Ronniesque.
And neither do you.
We lived with this for eight years and now we have some wanting a replay.
Ann Coultwr should have been made Vice President.
The Wall would be finished already.
Pence would still be surrendering to the Democrats.
Not much talk and no do.
Yes, but not without enraging FR's NeverCoulter contingent.
Starting that day, I long told people it was the only single thing GWB ever did that made me seriously rue my vote for him in the 2000 primary.
And the rants and shouts of horror back then from Coulter and MANY other conservative Republicans had the intended effect of getting Senate GOP leadership to quietly inform Dubya that Harriet's nom was a non-starter.
I didn't hear the Coulter segment on Hannity-Radio to which you refer, so I don't know how bad she was that day, but what she said about it in her column at that time doesn't sound like a looney tune .... unless you're on the left, in which case EVERYTHING Ann says sounds deranged, as much as everything PDJT says sounds deranged to liberal ears.
As much as I *LOVE* FreeRepublic, I must say I find extremely irksome the endless cycles of "Throw this conservative under the bus!! .... [months later] Wait! They truly knocked that one out of the park! All is forgiven! Quick, drag them out from under the bus, dust them off, and put them up on this golden pedestal / altar! ..... [weeks later] Whoa! Did you hear that one? Throw them under the bus again! ..... [days later] Hold on! It's rehabilitation time again!...."
How many times have we seen this cyclical pattern on FR? Lindsey "Gramnesty"? Ann Coulter? Who else?
Hey, Ann, STFU. We heard you last time.
She’s still right on immigration.
Ann has joined Bill Kristol and George Will...
If you read my post correctly - rather than going off on a long tangent - you would see that I did not write anything about Miers. I was writing about Ann’s mentally-ill hysterics about it. If you think it helps a good cause that screaming in a way that makes Roseanne Barr’s meltdowns look like Pollyanna, Coulter’s obviously your girl. She’s not mine.
I’m a Viking Kitty. I noticed the sign-up date.
