A postal or kitchen scale and a box of baggies probably qualifies. But EQUIPMENT USED IN DRUG SALES sounds so much more ominous.
Ultimately, you are responsible at the moment you pull the trigger for knowing what youre trying to kill. No way around that.
I used to work for a SWAT team in San Diego and it was a few years ago.
Never once did I hear the motivation for serving a search warrant, and I used to type them, was it for what they would seize.
They should only do it if the suspect is in fact dangerous. If they do it just because it’s fun to kick in doors and they don’t anticipate any danger, complacency sets in.
Thats where civil forfeiture comes in. The victim probably had something they wanted to steal.

Starting with safe with cash in it...
They likely didnt know it was only $3,000.
The winners are the drug dealers and the police. Society loses.
They have a very slow learning curve.
Drug War Kills Again.

This is how we deal with that: give it all back, if the original owners are not available, give it to Victims of the Drug War.
Government keeps not a penny.
Over here in SC they’re quite explicit about it. Perhaps they are savvy enough in San Diego to know how bad it looks to put it on the record.
Evidently someone isn't capable of doing a cost/benefit analysis. That's the person who should be charged with a crime.
Search warrants are so much easier to execute when nobody is home.
What’s wrong with pulling the guy over on his way to work of something?
War on drugs has many victims.

This warrant was due to the straw purchases. Too bad the article is misleading.
Law enforcement keeping the proceeds from civil forfeiture is the the very definition of “moral hazard”.

if someone is breaking down my door in the middle of the night the perp is immediately identified as “bad guy who wants to hurt me” and they get shot.
What else is one to think? Particularly in a bad neighborhood?
No knock raids... no life raiders. Obvious, predictable result. (Anyone with even just two brain cells knows, can figure that out.)
We the People are armed. The authorities had best learn to mind their manners.

this is another brick in the wall of disarming us.
Why cant these morons just nab the guy when he steps outside unsuspecting of a raid and visible? A cop is dead because of stupidity.
Because it has nothing to do with a $20 and $40 dollar buy of Mary Jane or supposed straw sales of guns.
The DA is at this point just making stuff up to justify their no-knock raid.
There are so many laws on the books and many being very technical (gun laws) that they can almost always find something to charge you with after the fact.
They just love their dramatic no-knock/SWAT raids until one of their own gets hurt or killed.
It's so important that all the officers stay safe and get to go home at the end of the day. If you have to shoot one of the civilians* to accomplish that...well that's just too bad for him.
*(Note the word civilian above. That's what they call us. Not citizen...civilian, someone beneath them and all their privileges.
I'm not knocking all cops. There are plenty of good ones around but in the Democrat controlled cities they can be few and far between. The fish rots from the head down.)
