Typhus, also known as typhus fever, is a group of infectious diseases that include epidemic typhus, scrub typhus and murine typhus. Common symptoms include fever, headache, and a rash. Typically these begin one to two weeks after exposure.It was eradicated in the United States but now it is roaring back and we have our liberal democrat "friends" to blame.
The diseases are caused by specific types of bacterial infection. Epidemic typhus is due to Rickettsia prowazekii spread by body lice, scrub typhus is due to Orientia tsutsugamushi spread by chiggers, and murine typhus is due to Rickettsia typhi spread by fleas.
There is currently no commercially available vaccine. Prevention is by reducing exposure to the organisms that spread the disease. Treatment is with the antibiotic doxycycline. Epidemic typhus generally occurs in outbreaks when poor sanitary conditions and crowding are present. While once common, it is now rare. Scrub typhus occurs in Southeast Asia, Japan, and northern Australia. Murine typhus occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world.
Signs and symptoms begin with sudden onset of fever, and other flu-like symptoms about one to two weeks after being infected. Five to nine days after the symptoms have started, a rash typically begins on the trunk and spreads to the extremities. This rash eventually spreads over most of the body, sparing the face, palms, and soles. Signs of meningoencephalitis begin with the rash and continue into the second or third weeks. Other signs of meningoencephalitis include sensitivity to light (photophobia), altered mental status (delirium), or coma.
Untreated cases are often fatal. Without treatment, death may occur in 10 to 60 percent of patients with epidemic typhus, with patients over age 60 having the highest risk of death.
Decade ago mental health hospitals were shut down and involuntary commitment was ended because liberals claimed it was "inhumane" to the patients. It is now obvious that the conditions in our cities are FAR more inhumane than any treatment provided in mental health hospitals ever was. This is a serious public health crisis and it is about to explode exponentially. Today, the Los Angeles City Hall has rats, fleas and typhus.
The effort in cities today is removal of the homeless encampments. But how is that going to get to the heart of the problem?
All of us in other parts of the country should begin shipping our undesirables to the west coast cities that love them so well. Win-win!

Suburbs suck, but you have to be there to get away from what cities have become.
We once had liveable communities. We don’t now. Cities are $hitholes, and survive only with money from the suburbs, disguised as “financial aid” or “loans.”
Advice to politicians: You created this situation by turning cities into places with zero net productivity. You created hellholes of non-working people who live off welfare that comes from the paychecks of the productive people.

To be sure, reports out of SanFran aren't good. I've never been to Denver, but, OK...maybe legalization hasn't been good for that city.
But many of the larger Cities which I've visited recently, including Manhattan, Chicago, and Anaheim, don't look like war zones. Every city has it's bad area, and to be sure DeBlasio has overseen a general decline in NYC vs prior years. But NYC remains WAY better than it did in the 1970s/1980s.
City living may not be a Deplorables' cup of tea, but to paint with a broad bush like this guy does without any basic research hurts his claim and his cause.

Bed bugs are the scourge of dense living.
Every building that share common walls, common space like townhomes, condos & apartments, are infected with biting, itching bed bugs.

Democrats make Western Cities into a different type of hellhole than the Eastern Cities they control.

As we know, the USSR simply considered people who were opposed to the regime as mentally ill. When Ken Kesey wrote Cuckoo, people could be institutionalized against their will. The multiple cases and exposes of inhumane treatment, brain mutilation, etc presented a picture of medieval torture chambers. It really is no wonder that the mental institutions were shuttered.
And yet, here we are coming full circle. Society has to accept that approximately 1 in 10-20 will become mentally ill. Unable to care for themselves, they will in turn endanger others - including children - to negatively impact the rest of society.
So, the big trick will encompass a few core elements. One will be diagnosis - this will be achieved through DNA analysis and other brain mapping techniques. Two will be attempted cures, remedial actions or just management. And three will be where to house them, what type/kind of facilities (locked cells, apartments, ?) will they be, who will tend to them, and what kinds of rights will patients possess.
The last point is the action item proglibs have to advance themselves. Rationale people should always remind themselves that leftists are emotional - children really. For them to act, a 'solution' has to accrue social rewards as well as garner group accolades to recognize their 'virtuous' activities. Once progs are in agreement that housing the mentally ill is the new "humane" solution, then action will finally take place.
San Francisco looks the way it does because the collectivists on the Board of Supervisors want it to look that way. The worse it looks, the easier it is for them to shake down downtown businesses for more tax revenue to “solve” the problem. It’s part of an intentional, multi-faceted, long-term plan to fund the Revolution.
