The fashion industry (behind the scenes) is a lot of hard, non-glamorous work. There is a reason that in the USA it is now dominated by Israeli Jews and Koreans (and to a lesser extent, white males) - the money is there, but it requires a work ethic to extract it.

People who like to fantasize about being designers and ordering around a cast of hundreds and who think they deserve such roles based on racial quotas for red carpet appearances don’t last very long. It is very difficult for any young designer to break in - one who expects a preference may get a couple of glowing magazine articles written by the usual suspects but will then quickly disappear.

The problem is not the stylist, but the wearer. Michelle Obama chooses the clothes she wears. I doubt the stylist hits her over the head to convince her to wear those clothes.

No, the article is blaming the public and other stylists. However, I think that whomever the stylist is, Michelle’s clothes will ultimately end up with the same look, as that is obviously the ‘look’ that Michelle prefers.
