They certainly do know it all.

That’s for sure.

Signing the bill will make it less likely that use of his present power to build the barrier will be upheld by the courts. See this discussion of the Youngstown case:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youngstown_Sheet_%26_Tube_Co._v._Sawyer#Effects_of_the_decision

Excerpt:
Robert Jackson[edit]
Jackson’s opinion took a similarly flexible approach to the issue, eschewing any fixed boundaries between Congress’ and the President’s power. Jackson divided Presidential authority vis-à-vis Congress into three categories (in descending order of legitimacy):

Cases in which the President was acting with express or implied authority from Congress
Cases in which Congress had thus far been silent, referred to as a ‘zone of twilight’
Cases in which the President was defying congressional orders (the “third category”)

By signing the bill, Trump may be putting his future actions in the third category, which is less likely to result in a victory for Trump. Does he have any attorneys telling him this?

They are saying that he can move some discretionary funding around without a court case.

If that were the case, wouldn’t he wait until AFTER they’ve announced that??

BNL news on twitter is reporting that he won’t sign the bill. True or not... I do not know.

and how Trump is wrong here.

I am not a never Trumper by any means, but he is wrong bigly here. This bill does the opposite of his stated goals. I'll wait and see how it plays out, but I am horrified by all this.

And do you suppose any of those border mayors will be vulnerable to bribes from bad actors from Mexico or evil liberals north of the border?

A nice pile of cash might be pretty attractive, to allowing your border town to be the new point of entry for some cartels or smugglers.

The courts have ordered Trump to stop before and in spite of being the new Hitler (we're told) he always complies with judicial rulings.

I could see this going to the 9th circuit immediately, getting an injunction then making it's way to the SCOTUS where Ruth Bader Ginsburgs ghost wires in a vote siding with Kagan, Soytomayor, Breyer, and Roberts to shut it down permanently.

And our ability to respond to national crises will be crippled in the end but hey, the lefty judged (and yeah, I'm looking at you Roberts) stopped Trump. That's how it goes when five unelected, unaccountable and permanently ensconced people run the country.

Would not be shocked if Dems derail the compromise bill in anger and it does not pass.

Any mayor?

Since when do effing “mayors” get to dictate border security policies? The national border is totally under federal jurisdiction. Any mayor arrogantly stupid enough to make an attempt at obstructing of national security will not be mayor much longer - one way or the other. BTW, Sheriffs are the highest elected county official, meaning their say trumps that of some pipsqueak, leftist used-asswipe of a mayor.
