Id support changing Martin Luther King Day to Adulterers Day.
KarlInOhio Says He’d Support Changing “Columbus Day” To “Get your lazy civil service butt back to work” day.
ANY country can point to abuses by their conquerors. It’s the fact that he helped start the creation of our wonderful country that he is honored.
I support changing MLK day to General Patton day.
columbus’s explorations lead to the greatest country in the history of the world.
Modern day indians have the options of traditional reservation or assimilating. That’s one more echoic than I have.
+1
I wouldn't even care if they still got the day off if that were the official name of the day.
Some place in Ohio is eliminating the holiday altogether and making Election day a national holiday so the fed workers can spend the day stuffing ballot boxes.
Columbus accomplished the contemporary equivalent of going to the moon, so why should we disavow such an accomplishment? He was not responsible for what happened to the indigenous peoples. And this denigration of our ancestors and idolization of indigenous culture is getting old.
I’m all in for changing it to “Leif Erikson Day”.
I support changing Presidents Day to Washington’s Birthday.
If these kooks had their way, all
of the holidays would just be a number.
Indigenous, Ohio, Indigenous River, or
Indigenous Boulevard if we just want to
get rid of ‘Columbus’. How far do we
have to go with this?
How about calling it Explorers Day? Celebrate them all not just one.
My bday is on the real Washington bday... 2/22
“Im all in for changing it to Leif Erikson Day.”
I was thinking the same thing.
I support changing her name to Commie-Lou Harris, Queen of the screw-your-way-to-the-bottom, home-wreckers Party.
could really use a good timeline of Harris/ skillet meeting gay/lynching bill if you see it.
TIA
As a “mixed blood”of Scots, Amer-Indian & English ancestry, I don’t see the point.
(In case the majority of Freepers don’t know, most of us NA folks already celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving on the same date.)
After all, who doesn’t want a good reason for having turkey/dressing & all the trimmings on a third day in the Fall/Winter??
