James Neal, of Monument, CO, was taken into custody Tuesday, for the killing of 11-year-old Linda O’Keefe.
I am guessing they found a close DNA relative to the accused in a 23andme.com or Ancestry.com database.
They can tell by the percentage of DNA match to how close a relative it is. If it is say a 50% match they know to look at your cousins. If it is a higher percentage it is a closer relative like a son/daughter/brother/sister.
Yes, I saw a program on the Science Channel (I think) a few years ago, where a sketch artist was able to draw a likeness of some Neanderthal male from whose skeleton they were able to extract DNA.
Maybe in the future police wanted posters will include not just one or two sketches but dozens of sketches, done by AI, depicting the killer when he was 10, 20, 30, 40, ..., etc., years old — wearing a hat, not wearing a hat, having long hair, having short hair or being bald, having a beard, etc.?
Good.
OK, so you are normal.
Watch the Ted Bundy tapes on Netflix.
The guy was good looking, smart and very charismatic. He actually was a Republican politician. However, he also liked to kidnap women and kill them. It is a fascinating series (4 episodes) because he seemed so likeable. Even the judge at his trial in Florida stated how nice a guy he was and was sorry that he had to now sentence him to die in the electric chair.
Not the first time Ive heard this story but it was about other places. Almost seems like somebody had a reason.
Phew! Glad I’m not good looking, smart, or charismatic.
“They say DNA doesn’t lie. But people do, and what’s worse, they make mistakes and think they have the truth.”
Press conference should be giving the info even at this very moment (Wed., 10 a.m. Pacific time).
Yes. This week we watched the update on how they caught the Golden State Killer. All exactly as you described.
“If one of your close relatives submits their DNA “
The relative doesn’t even have to be a “close relative”. It’s amazing.
Be arrogant...be elegant...be smart
“Never too late for a hanging. After a proper trial, of course”
That doesn’t work in California any more. Let’s try something new, straight to the hanging.
Wow, haven’t thought about that movie in a while. A great laugh for such a bad movie.
your are correct. We are putting our future in the hands of people who can and do illegal and immoral things. For years the FBI had stated that they can tell if the lead in a bullet came from a sample in the possession of a suspect. Many were convicted under that premise. It was a lie. lead is lead and is identical to all others. The courts have been required to overturn a lot of convictions due to that misrepresentation. How do we know the morals, integrity, etc of some obscure laboratory technologist is some far off lab. The FBI, who should be reliable has proven, again, that trust should not be given just because.
Oooh ... wonder if Homicide Hunter, Joe Kenda, was involved?
I love that show, lol.
Note to self: in order to avoid prosecution for those illegal firecrackers I had when I was 12 don't send blood or saliva to any of those sites to find long lost relatives.
Great info. Has anything Kamala has touched not gone bad? (Assuming the Willie is still intact)
