How does one person know what another person’s intentions are when they speak? The words speak for themselves and stand for whatever interpretation a normal person makes of them.
A congress person should have control of what they say and not need an explanation from others when they screw up.

You’re right. This whole “gotcha” belongs in Jr. High and certainly not in the U. S. Senate or House of Representatives. No one can open their mouths about anything anymore without someone picking it apart and condemning it. Can’t we just go back to the days of everyone who is elected to office keeping their mouths shut and just doing the job we are paying them to do. We’re not paying them to act like school kids. He said this - well, he said that - look, he’s touching me - No, he’s touching me - well, he did it first, did not, did too!!
