Full Title: North Korea is hit by 'artificial' 2.1-magnitude earthquake after 'mine explosion' amid claims Pyongyang is reviving a nuclear launch site

An earthquake in a mining town in North Korea was caused by 'artificial activity', it has been claimed.

The 2.1-magnitude tremor was reported in the town of Pyonggang near the border with South Korea around Thursday lunchtime.

Meteorology experts in the South said the quake was likely to be caused by a mine explosion.

Lets see. Two days ago it was announced that Kim was starting up the nuke testing facility again. Then this happens. I don’t know if it is the same place, but I gotta assume that President Trump is sending another strong signal.

Like I’ve said before. Lil Dong won’t give up his nukes until you pry them from his carbonized hands.

But, you know, I do think that if Trump does decide he has had enough of playing with a poisonous snake and just obliterates the Norks no one can say he “didn’t even try diplomacy”.

I imagine the same - and as he bends China, his messages will become ever clearer...

Hate to say it, but I agree.

Completely.

Like I say, I really hoped the two of them had a real connection. Still do, though I am starting to have doubts.

But I agree 100%.

Very good post.

China must need a diversion to distract the US from the trade talks.

I mean, everyone says “We can’t do anything, he has 1,000 artillery tubes pointed at Seoul” or whatever. I’m not even involved with the military in any way but even I can see h ow with what I know of our technology I could put together an operation that essentially nullifies that threat. So this notion that our hands are tied is probably just not true.

I still don’t see evidence of China “bending”.

The just set a new, all-time world record, trade surplus with America.

In the year just ended.

A new, world record.

Everyone assumes that because his artillery is so dispersed it cannot be targeted for a simultaneous attack with little to no warning. It occurs to me any assumptions in an age of Supremacy Through Technological Superiority is probably a pretty big mistake. Especially when we have had 70 years to work the problem.

...and we have a record number of “guests” pouring into the country. America is just falling to pieces right under our feet. “This is America in 2019.” Quote of the decade.

Nixon gave an amazing talk (mostly questions and answers) to students at Oxford. He talked about how having a relationship with the Soviets was important. That they knew each other.

IIRC it was Brezhnev that sent Soviet forces near Israel - and told Nixon that now he would need to send American forces to Israel.

Nixon told him “No - that is a bad idea. But if you DO try something - that will be an even worse idea.”

Nixon might have said something even more directly about nuclear war. Then Nixon told the students something like “Now - if Brezhnev didn’t know me well from all of our talks and conversations - he might have thought I was bluffing. But he knew me. He pulled his troops out. So it is GOOD that leaders know, and understand each other.”

In that same speech Nixon also talked about how speaking to the Soviets “off the record” about their internal human rights abuses did a lot more good that making the complaints public. He gave some number such as “In 1971 the Soviets allowed over 9,000 Jews to leave - it was part of our private conversations during the SALT talks. In 1976 with Jimmy Carter making a huge outcry about the Soviet Jews - they let 310 leave.”

I forget the exact dates and numbers, but you get the point. I think Trump is doing a similar thing. He mocked Kim early on - and now he is showing some respect or whatever. I imagine that is to stress to Kim the importance of keeping the conversation going.

Underground, unconfirmed nuke testing is one thing. It will be interesting to see how Trump will handle it when/if Kim starts testing his long-range missles again.

This does leave me wondering just what Rocket Man is up to. I worked with explosives in mines for a while. I can’t imagine a large 2.1 Richter explosion is actually created on purpose if it ain’t nuclear testing and if it is atmospheric sampling will reveal it. But in mining operations large explosions are not productive. A great number of small explosions is much more controllable and purposeful. Accidents occur but the way explosives are stored underground generally precludes any accident creating a huge explosion. So I can’t imagine just what this is if it ain’t nuclear.

Explosion was more than likely caused by ostensibly confidential nuclear testing, likely ramped up because Kim saw what the Democrats were doing in the US Congress, and felt he thought he could now outwait Trump’s first term, and walked out without the deal he WOULD have made had Congress played nice. Make no mistake: AOC, Pelosi, and CNN are the primary reasons for this explosion.

(And don’t tell me this is less likely than Trump/Russian collusion.)

Given it’s North Korea I doubt that worker safety conditions are a priority. Can you imagine an industrial accident in a mine, assume a coal mine, that could trigger a massive explosion?
