The measure would have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants are not legally able to participate in federal elections.

But that will change as soon as they can get their way.

To ensure that they vote only in state and not federal elections would require separate ballots with no federal office entries. States are not going to do that. So the illegals will be voting in federal elections.

I’m actually a little confused by that line. I thought the point of the measure was to prevent illegal aliens from voting in state and local elections, not federal elections, and as the article points out, there are several localities, including San Francisco, that allow illegals to vote in at least some local elections.

This is just a trial balloon. They want to lower the voting age. The young vote is easier to cultivate.
