The hand is now writing on the wall, Dems.
You’d think after that episode Cuomo would shut his stupid face about what kind of people he wants in NY; his stupid comments that pro-life and pro-gun people have no place in NY is as bad as Hillary’s “deplorables” comment on a state level - and while he’s keeping his elected office, he is kept there by bottom-feeders in his state. NY (and my neighboring state of NJ) are suffering a very real brain drain as workers/taxpayers flee and the least-successful Third Worlders are brought in to replace them. Another poster pointed out that Amazon may have had a very hard time filling 25,000 positions paying six figures; many of the qualified people are gone.
We are there already. People just do not realize it. I have told so many...and so many just get mad at ME. Screw all of this.
Burn, baby, burn. Let it fiscally burn to the ground from the Democrats playing with tax matches. Burn.
Yep. Same with CA. Sold our house there last year. Entire capital gains beyond the exemption are taxable in CA. No pro-rating. I have no problem with that. Report that and the income earned while living in CA and be done with it.
We just sold commercial property in CA and did a 2031 tax-free exchange for like kind properties in NV & AZ. So unless we sell either of the new properties and not do another 1031, CA will never see a dime! Furthermore, since the properties are in a Living Trust with our children as joint beneficiaries, unless the laws change in the future, they will inherit without any taxes.
Florida has no state income tax.
Smart; more and more people are setting things up like that (which will probably lead to more restrictions, but hopefully after your deal is done). This is a real driving force behind the nation socialism push by Dems (mainly from the coasts); they can’t watch their best & brightest take their talents to greener pastures elsewhere in the country and escape the lunatics’ view of “their fair share”. They are leaving behind dead areas populated by our permanent underclass and the Third World’s underclass to maintain populations in areas that are simply no longer “economically viable”.
re: “Yes, but Cuomo is p!ssed because apparently they dont like them. His comments were so bitter people joked Cuomo would build a wall - to stop NYers from fleeing.”
Cuomo, building a wall to keep ppl in - how communist of him ...
Which Albany is about to learn the hard way. This revenue stream will be very short-lived.
Apparently people should be able to move as they please between nations, but not between states. The left doesn’t even hide its hypocrisy or bad intentions anymore; there is no “stealth” about the poison they spread.
Out of the cases, any idea how many were in the partial year residency you write about? I would also like to know how many were demokraps. I also wish state authorities would be as diligent in their voter rolls.
When a person leaves a physical home in NY and relocates to another state, then the question of residency arises. I believe NY has certain real estate tax exemptions, maybe over 65 and veteran exemptions ...for residents. If they were claiming those then of course it is easy to link them to whether they filed income taxes. The counties periodically send out notice for a resident to re-certify exemption qualification.
While I may not like paying excessive taxes, if we are going to have a country worth living in, the rule of law must be maintained. Trump said as much in one of the debates on how many years he has been audited. He didn’t like it, but he knew these were the rules, and he plays by the rules. Don’t like the law, then one needs to complain to one’s representatives, etc to change them. I don’t blame NY for pursuing legitimate claims of unpaid taxes, even if a beautiful state is being run now by the leftists like Cuomo. I am betting some of these NY fleeing scofflaws are well to do demokraps.
>> We the People are constantly squeezed by this vice vise grip of taxation/denial of rights. <<
For your future reference . . .
I guess they would base it on the state that issued your driver’s license.
And it never went below 30 degrees here in north central Florida :D
Not sure 6 months would be a deciding factor. Other factors could be considered. In which state does the person in your scenario have a driver’s license? Which state does the person vote? Which state does the person file at least their federal income taxes? What mail box do they use? Where do they maintain a bank account? Let’s say the answers to these questions is they don’t have a drivers license, don’t vote, don’t file and have no mailbox or bank accounts. Then the person is what used to be called a hobo, or now homeless. I don’t think residency would be an important issue to such a person.
I’ve heard him mention that, since at least the 1990s when he moved to Florida.
These people have to stop leaving N.Y. and N.J. because they are just spreading their disease across the U.S..
When my personal budget starts to run low I try not to spend as much....
but remember if he was in NYC for a day and did his show from NYC instead of Fla base, they went after him again and again.
