My parents bought me my first .22 when I was six, and I remember walking to the store in ‘67 with two quarters to buy 50 rounds. I could barely see over the counter, but there weren’t any questions and sales tax didn’t exist then either. Now, 52 years later, I have to show a government issued ID to purchase ammo at many stores.

Now, 52 years later, I have to show a government issued ID to Im 73 years old; when I was about 10 I bought my first shotgun myself out of a barrel of used guns for $10. Was a double side by side with exposed hammers. Hunted with it all through school. It was only later, after I got out of the army I think it was that I bothered to research what the word Damascus imprinted on the tine between the barrels meant. After learning its meaning I stopped shooting it and bought a Remington 870. Guess lucky does count as I shot lots of heavy load #4 and #6 duck shot through the old double, lol 🙄...
