Steele admits he used posts from 'random individuals' on CNN website for Trump dossier
American Thinker ^ | March 16, 2019 | Rick Moran

Posted on 03/16/2019 10:03:03 AM PDT by Rocky

The dossier that launched several investigations into Donald Trump and his presidential campaign was based, in part, on posts from "random individuals" from a CNN website that allows the public to publish unverified information.

Christopher Steele made the admission in a deposition given in connection with a lawsuit against the dossier. The judge released portions of the deposition this week.

Washington Examiner:

According to deposition transcripts released this week, Steele said last year he used a 2009 report he found on CNN's iReport website and said he wasn't aware that submissions to that site are posted by members of the public and are not checked for accuracy.

A web archive from July 29, 2009 shows that CNN described the site in this manner: "iReport.com is a user-generated site. That means the stories submitted by users are not edited, fact-checked, or screened before they post."

They don’t look silly. They look criminal. Combine that with the leak of the Comey memos that were handed over to Congress on Thursday and you see Comey, Clapper and Brennan as future co-defendants in trials involving treason and sedition.

I’m curious to see the actual post that Steele cribbed, and the identity of who posted it (surely the FBI knows rom vetting the dossier). Whose operative was it: Clinton, Obama, CIA, or FBI? Perhaps Judicial Watch will unearth this some day.

It could have been any of the sources you name, or any crank out there, since posting on the site was open to the public. You mentioned the FBI vetting the dossier. I assume you meant that in jest.

How silly does the FBI look now?

Well, since the coup attempt is not over, has paralyzed the President, and may very well succeed, I wouldn't call them silly at all.

Incredible that Steele used to be a high-up muckety-muck in MI6, and that his material was being relied upon by senior officials in our FBI and CIA.... not to mention influencing our govt, country, and the world. All starting from anonymous b.s. posters on a CNN site and other Leftard fantasy blather. The only thing still hard to understand is why Steele didn’t come up with more and juicier stuff than the “golden showers” scene.......

I’m sure the FISA will be glad to hear this and the fact they were lied to

Well, I'm sure the secret court is in on all of this, they are well aware of the lies and have been for more than two years, and they care not at all.

It is so nice to know that the FBI, intelligence community and the DOJ don’t care about the factual basis of warrants.

The FISA Court rules need to be changed by legislation and the head of the Supreme Court needs to clean out the FISA Court sitting judges and replace them with judges that will question the “facts” presented to them.

BS. In fact, he probably made up the crap and blamed it on this source.

Can Steele be charged as a foreign government agent trying to disrupt a US Presidential election?

You assume right. The FBI knew what the dossier was, where it came from, and had no desire to expose it.

What I am interested in is the exact nature of the comments he lifted, because I suspect the characterization as “random” is a smokescreen. I bet that Simpson, Nellie Ohr, or others in cahoots told Steele where to look (if he even really did)and quite possibly had posted the dirt on iReports in the first place. I tried Washington Examiner, and their “Archive” link took me to some sort of product marketing scam.

CNN in 2009 described the site: "iReport.com stories ... are not edited, fact-checked, or screened before they post."

After the 2016 election, CNN must have realized that it was 100% redundant to maintain both this operation AND their "Hard News" operation, so they shut down the former.

It’s hard to find clear info, but the appearance at other sources is that the iReports material was Steele’s basis for accusing Webzilla and other platforms owned by the plaintiff, of fielding Russian bot farms, and anti-DNC computer attacks, etc. Very odd if that was on someone’s mind to post it in 2009.

I may be mistaken, but McCain was not always so angry at Palin and that his attitude towards her changed in the last few years of his life. Again, I think that the cancer could have been affecting his emotions as well as other personality traits.

LOL! Yeah, why would they need two sites to disseminate false and unverified gossip as "news"? One is plenty.

This should also mean that all actions taken by Lurch Mueller are null and void. No dossier, no Special Council. No Special Council, no convictions.

That happens HERE too much also.

Some think AOC has massive support.

But the more people who know her, the worse her approval/disapproval ratings are.

She’s a gift. So is the muslim. Though the muslim might be more dangerous.

A dem in 2020 has to choose either the “moderate” wing of the dem party and risk turning off the young and stupid vote. Or vice versa.

Hard way to win.

His answer is as possible as mine.

The country has been devastated with an insanity disease.

Boys are girls and girls are boys.

There has to be at least one gay character, even if it’s a 2 person play.

23 TRILLION dollars in debt. That we can even say we owe 1/40th of (whatever comes after trillion) is INSANITY.

I don’t know FRiend, I just don’t know.
