Grammar Police trigger warning - please shade your eyes:
“The study inquires about the respondents’ motivations to benefit him/herself, and the following social groups: the family, the Black community, the White community, God and church, The U.S. society, the non-White races of the world, and the human species as a whole.”
[sic] Michele Obama
the mile long freight train of run on sentances
The study inquires about the respondents motivations to benefit him/herself, and the following social groups: the family, the Black community, the White community, God and church, The U.S. society, the non-White races of the world, and the human species as a whole.
[sic] Michele Obama
Looks ok to me
Boy that sure sounds like it is full of smartitude.
People write sentences like that when they can’t actually say anything smart, so they use smart-sounding sentences, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
“The study inquires about the respondents motivations to benefit him/herself, and the following social groups: the family, the Black community, the White community, God and church, The U.S. society, the non-White races of the world, and the human species as a whole.
[sic] Michele Obama.” Is this from the Onion? It CAN’T be real can it?
Re: The selection from Michele Obama’s thesis quoted:
If Princeton is like most schools, the Mooch had to have some kind of faculty advisor to supervise her thesis, and that person had to approve it. I can understand MO taking advantage of the situation - she’s been doing that all her life, from her cushy job at the U of Chicago Med School to her 8 years in the lap of luxury at taxpayer’s expense. What’s harder to understand is an Ivy League prof signing off on an embarrassment like that thesis - it should’ve been blue-lined and bounced back to it’s source as many times as it took until it reflected at least some reasonable degree of literacy.
