Complete failure at Oroville Dam

The $1.1 billion spent to repair Oroville Dam is failing as water is seeping through the rebuilt spillway threatens new mass evacuations over the risk of the dam collapsing.

According to national dam expert Scott Cahill of Watershed Services of Ohio, Oroville Dam is on the same failure track as in 2017, with visible water seepage trickling from the foot of the dam and dozens of points along the dam's principal spillway. Cahill warns that warming temperatures magnified by precipitation is a growing threat to the dam.

American Thinker reported on March 1 that the Sierra snow pack was at a record 113 inches, but another 44 inches fell in the next 10 days. With temperatures spiking this week to 75 degrees in the valleys and 41 degrees in the high mountains, dam inflows are running twice the outflows, and the water levels rose from 800 to 839 feet.

The mega thread you linked was/is the best source of publicly available information on the first Oroville Dam crisis.

Hopefully this will be mild by comparison.

However, if Oroville Dam ends up in trouble again, this new thread looks like a good candidate for the next Oroville Dam mega thread.

Looks like the water coming from under the spillway is now flowing down the closest rocks to the spillway.

Not much water, but still.

Also looks like something going on on the left side (to us) of the spillway.

I know how strong water can be.

Otter Creek at Fort Knox, KY. Pretty little creek. Washed 100 tons of steel down the creek one day (M88 Recovery Vehicle towing an M60 Tank).

Oooh, all he needs to do is add “community organizer” in there and he’s the perfect Liberal candidate!

Well, after he appears on “Ellen” and some “Oprah” show.

And the assassinations. And the body bags from Vietnam. And LBJ and Billy Sol Estes and his tanks of anhydrous ammonia, so useful in later years for manufacturing methamphetamine.

But it was a great time, all things considered. Like you, I thought it would go on forever, or get better.

Yep, a lot of that stuff.

As you said, back then most Americans worked to improve the country. And they did.

I’m having to look up Billy Sol.

Nowadays, 1/2 of America decides to destroy the country because they watch the idiots on Saturday Night Live.

SNL is the substitute religion for self-destructing fools.

Nothing new from him about the dam. Nothing new in 3 days. Wait and see I guess. I was surprised he had nothing about this, either way.

Pardon me for the tinfoil thinking but I’ve long had the lurking suspicion that CA authorities would be just fine with depopulating Oroville and Butte County.

Yes, but the money that should have been on repairs has made so many illegal alien moochers’ lives easier!

[In 1962, after information came to light that Estes had paid off four Agriculture officials for grain storage contracts, President John F. Kennedy ordered the Justice Department and FBI to open investigations into Estes’ activities and determine if Secretary of Agriculture Orville L. Freeman had also been “compromised” (Freeman was cleared).[3] Congress conducted hearings on Estes’ business dealings, including some that led to Vice President Johnson, a long-time associate of Estes.[4]]

Ah, so Billie Sol Estes was a friend of LBJ and this (above) was happening in 1962??

Well, I would say more but that would just be a tinfoil nut-job conspiracy thingy.

You should see the liberals over at Yahoo.

If you were to tell them the sky is blue, Barack made it happen.

Got stale food at a restaurant? President Trump’s fault.

I seem to recall Juan saying the spillgates are designed to let some water trickle through or else sediment would build up.
But there was a mixer truck there a little while ago.....

Might be an issue indeed. Not major...yet.

Global Warming, now strong enough to wreck dams.

Well, Estes was obviously a liar. LBJ’s family defends LBJ? Shocking.

I think a big reason life seemed "normal" was because our parents were taking a lot of the load off us (I'm speaking for my age group, young teenagers in the late '60s). If you were older, I bet things seemed pretty crazy back then.

The whole Archie Bunker phenomenon was about America as seen by a man born in the 1920s or 1930s. We laughed at how he thought "normal" for us was nuts.
