“Think about it, how can they allow a delay beyond the EU parliament elections?”

perhaps by becoming a formal vassal state of the EU without representation and in a permanent state of almost-brexiting?

(was this what may has been proposing with her meaningful vote on her deal?)

(dunno...)

these guys are calling for a full inquiry. lots of questions going back to 2015, as if they dont know the brexit history. where were they all these years?

anyway i wonder if that would be enough on its face to satisfy the EU.

i wonder who in the UK could the EU trust to speak for UK to the EU?

what form would the delay take? presuming indefinited membership in the EU without representation would be unthinkable (?), then the main delay would be to postpone brexit for one or more EU election cycles. each EU cycle is 5 years, and an EU election is coming this may 23-26 (2019). so that means an orderly timed delay preserving representation would be a multiple of 5 years away from now.

therefore, maybe they are angling for a 5 year delay, and (surprise) they just can’t bring themselves to confess to it in public.

do i have this all correctly? is anyone talking openly about orderly brexit delay periods in multiples of 5 years beginning in may 2019? if not, is talk of it that difficult to bear? perhaps the uk needs to man up, or person up, or whatever.

There is no legal way for that to happen.

Mays deal was
1. The UK gets Norway style EFTA full benefits of the EU and has to pay and allow EU citizens movement without representation BUT ONLY UNTIL 31 December 2020 or earlier (the UK could opt out any time before) and could freely make deals with outsiders and also work on the trade deal with the eu.

2. The Irish border was open with a customs check between NI and the rest of the UK.

There was no problem with point 1. Point 2 is what scuppered the deal.

In amy case point 1 is because in two years May hasn’t gottem anywhere with trade deals with anyone except Fiji and Papua New Guinea ie small trading partners

“EU has brought the longest peace time in history, as far as EU countries are concerned.”

That would be the US military.
