U.S. Rep. Max Rose, a Jewish New York Democrat in his first term in Congress, apologized to visibly frustrated constituents at a town hall in Staten Island on Tuesday for not "protecting them" from fellow freshman Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar's repeated use of "anti-Semitic tropes."
Rose's comments came as Minnesota Democrats are seriously considering the prospect of supporting an unprecedented primary challenge against the 37-year-old Omar in 2020, following bipartisan condemnation of several of her remarks, according to officials and state representatives. Earlier this month, the House passed a bipartisan resolution condemning hate of all kinds in the wake of Omar's comments. But Democrats kept Omar's name out of the resolution, which several Republicans opposed as a watered-down, half-hearted effort.
ON THE STREETS IN OMAR'S DISTRICT: SOMALI GANGS, NO TALKING WITH THE COPS
As a young congressman, Ive got to tell you Im sorry, Rose told an audience gathered by the Council of Jewish Organizations (COJO), according to a video of the town hall posted on Facebook by Jewish Insider, which first reported the comments. You sent me to Congress to take responsibility. You sent me to Congress to have your back ... and I failed you. Because I know that Congresswoman Ilhan Omars comments really caused you all a lot of pain by bringing up anti-Semitic tropes.

Those were Bosnian Muslims of an SS regiment raised by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini. Their sole mission was to hunt down and kill Jews.
They are reading something entitled “Islam and Jewry”, no doubt excerpts from Mein Kampf where Hitler praises Islam as a superior religion for a master race.
Ironically, Hitler despised Arabs; when Haj Amin journeyed to Berlin to offer his services, Hitler refused to meet with him until his adjutant whispered, “Mein Fuhrer, the Mufti has blue eyes”.
“Send him in”, was Hitler’s reply.
Maybe they can all demonstrate solidarity by wearing some sort of visible symbol about their attire. Perhaps a Star of David sown onto the sleeve or something.
Even Trump hate? Ew, not so sure about all that...
Don't really know much about the guy. Stupid? Appears he's from an old Brooklyn family, not a rich one. Degree from Wesleyan. Masters from the London School of Economics. I'll pass on stupid. Came home, enlisted. As a child of the 60s, people, former friends, thought enlisting was stupid. Today, on FR I hope not. Did his time in Kandahar, wounded, now he serves as a company commander in the Fighting 69th, along with serving in Congress. None of that relates to your commentary, but to the thread.
But, you said he cant really speak out against his leadership. I'd suggest he just did that. To his constituents, as he should, but the message is there. Disagreeable to the media, so no one will hear about it. Rest assured, leadership knows about it.
It won't, but imagine if his action spread. What would it take for the media to cover it. Ten Congressmen or Congresswomen to condemn antisemitism tolerance in their party. Five or fifty. I don't know. Nor do I know his policy positions, I suspect I'd disagree with many. But I'm OK with his action, wish a few more dems would do the same thing. But they cobble so many interest groups to create "America" in their minds, can't support one without offending another.
No. That won’t be happening either. Aside from the media, politically Trump hate is bipartisan.
Perhaps, but that's a bit loony. I am no longer surprised by Democrats they have shown they have no principles, only lust for power. So they think protesting anti-Semitism is "offensive" to Muslism? They are twisted in the worst of ways.
“Islam is the perfect religion for the warrior’’.- Heinrich Himmler.
Power is what it’s about. Nothing wrong with the “big tent” concept, whether R or D. In practice, it becomes an effort to divide Americans along whatever lines, racial, religion, gender, pet owners, is effective. Not based on positions in the national interest, but on each unique slice of the pie. Politically, if you can keep enough slices in the fold, you get the whole pie. That’s the democrat dilemma. I think it’s a losing proposition under our system, they’ll never successfully put together an intersectual pie. But I could be wrong.
Himmler, the heck with him. Spent WWI as a reservist, in college. He was no Goering.
That's not to suggest it's not a warlike religion. But perfect for the warrior, I suppose time will tell, but no.
Jews are just reaping what they sow. They vote Democrat knowing the Democrats are pro Muslim
