Nixon’s mistakes were:
1) Getting involved in any of this burglary business in the first place, as he would have wiped the floor with McGovern in any case (Trump is smarter than this).
2) Resigning, rather than forcing Congress’ hand on impeachment. Forcing them to leave political fingerprints on the knife would have served useful political purposes down the road.
The entire Trump Coup affair was built on the premise that they could likewise pressure him into resigning. When it became clear he was having none of that all of the wheels started to come off.
So they just choose to completely ignore the report.
Leaks and lies from Obama’s IRS, FBI, CIA, EPA, DOJ et al and this arsehole has the audacity to blame President Trump for distrust in government.

But, Trump has something Nixon did not have - Trump knows who he can trust.
There was a point where Nixon really did not know who to trust in his own administration. And, he was afraid that "they" would do to him what "they" did to JFK and he would end up dead. That is the real reason why he resigned.
Trump has many layers of protection around him and despite the many attempts to take him out he is still alive.
