Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got into a heated exchange with a GOP congressman from Wisconsin after he called the Green New Deal “elitist” during a committee hearing Monday.
Ocasio-Cortez invoked her experience as a waitress while mentioning the water in Flint, Michigan, and flooding in the Midwest after GOP Rep. Sean Duffy mocked her ambitious plan.
“People are dying. They are dying,” she exclaimed. “And the response across the other side of the aisle is to introduce an amendment five minutes before a hearing.”
During the Financial Services Committee hearing, Duffy introduced an amendment to a homelessness bill that would impose “green” standards on the measure.
Duffy introduced the amendment to vote against it — and spark debate about the legislation that Ocasio-Cortez has been championing.
“The Green New Deal is one that if you are a rich liberal from maybe New York or California, it sounds great because you can afford to retrofit your home or build a new home that has a zero emissions, that is energy-efficient, affordable and safe,” Duffy seethed during the hearing.
He added that the US Department of Housing and Urban Development did a study that found that to retrofit all their existing houses to meet the Green New Deal’s standards, it would cost up to $172 billion. see also Ocasio-Cortez slams Republicans as 'climate delayers' after Green New Deal defeat
“It’s outrageous. It’s absolutely outrageous,” Duffy said.

I think it is interesting that not ONE Democrat voted for this Green New Deal. Not even Marky from Mass who was the cosponsor of he bill. 57-0 was the vote. All Republicans and a few dems voted against. All the rest voted present. What a bunch of cowards.

The REAL question is - How do you tell when she "flips out"? Don't you have to display SOME sanity first?
She flips out over EVERYTHING. Her emotions are in overdrive all the time.
I don’t think she’ll have much shelf life. She’s too fragile. Loves the spotlight, loves attention, but then feels the need to defend herself against every perceived aggression. Too much exposure, too much energy. She’s going to be overwhelmed.
And she won her district with only 12% turnout. Of that she got 56% of the turnout. So about 7% overall district support? That’s not a power base. Her castle is built on quicksand.
Just wait until they get control of both houses. They’ll just ‘DEEM’ it into law.............Like ObozoCare...............

If you watch her arms flailing during her faux outrage, it’s a pretty good workout so maybe she has a future in Youtube fitness videos.
