he author of this bit of shining ignorance obviously doesn't have a clue as to the nature of the economy.

Layoffs in one industry are more than balanced by opportunities in another as long as the economy continues to improve, and under Trump the economy is going great guns. If the Democraps get back in power God help us and keep up your marksmanship because ignoramuses like the vacuum brains who voted for the Cortez numbskull can vote us into socialism, but once in you have to shoot your way out.

Does anyone remember when movies we happylittle slice of all American life where the problems were minor and easily solved. When a husband practically cried for joy when his loving wife told him they were expecting?

Remember when it was fun to go to the movies? Musicals, comedies that were actually funny, good clean movies where sex was only hinted at and you could watch a whole movie without seeing naked people.

Remember when studios had morals clauses written into their contracts?

Silliness! The industry is in a golden age. If these people are good, they will get hired by other studios. If they were not doing a good job. Then they may have trouble. Employees always have a chance to leave. And companies have the option to delete the job.

Disney has a history of this. Back in 07,08 my daughter had an internship at ABC News. She did research, wrote question scripts forthe Saturday GMA and reviewed tech for the website. At the end ofbher semester her boss offered her a three day a week paid internship. She did well and the boss told her on graduation she had a job with the unit. She goes to Italy for two weeks with her art class, comes back to discover Disney has laid off her entire 21 person unit. She spends the last month of her internshop writing resumes for the staff who have been on the job so long they have no clue how to write a modern acceptable resume. Stuff happens but Disney did this. I had no surprise when I read about the Fox people.

Welcome to Disney! Now pack you crap up and get the hell out! It's too small a world to care about you or your family!"

No one cares about hate crime committed with the express purpose of making conservative Americans look like racists.

Truth is, it was written into the contract, but rarely enforced. (Money has always talked, everything else always walks!) Hollyweird was much better at covering up things in the old days. Basically because in those days the public actually cared or at least Hollyweird thought they cared!

Thank you. That’s kind of what I thought. I suspect it’s fairly unique thing to L.A., but I’m very curious if it has any popularity in other regions. Midwest people: “the 65, “the 80” or “65, “I 65,” “80” etc.?

If coal miners can learn to code so can Disney workers.

Maybe Disney will tell George Clooney or Will Smith to train his Indian replacement.

“Feel good news right before I leave the house for the day.”

A very good friend, is a set-painter with Disney.

I think your snap, gleeful comment, overlooks the ordinary working class follks involved in this industry.

Does anybody know the breakdown of the layoffs?

People working in accounting, HR, payroll, purchasing, catering, IT — they will be able to find jobs in some other industry.

Is L.A.'s format ("the" + number) popular throughout the country?

Real Southern Californian's still say, "the San Diego to the Golden State but never use the Long Beach or the Harbor".
