Ocasio-Cortez rails against overpriced croissants at LaGuardia

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez turned an overpriced croissant into a lesson on the minimum wage.

“Croissants at LaGuardia are going for SEVEN DOLLARS A PIECE,” the New York Democrat tweeted Monday morning. “Yet some people think getting a whole hour of personal, dedicated human labor for $15 is too expensive??”

She said her point wasn’t that the croissant cost too much.

“GOP taking every tweet so earnestly, making my point for me. It’s not an argument against the price of the croissant – it’s about the value of human worth,” she continued. “But I guess the idea is foreign to them since their policies treat people as disposable anyway.”

When AOC ran for Congress last year, she supported a $15-an-hour minimum wage, as well as a federal jobs guarantee.

The biggest question is WHO should decide the price of stuff? The free market system with people freely transacting with one another, or some busybody government bureaucrat who thinks they know better and who has no accountability in the resulting chaos?

Wait a minute, the GOP isn’t responsible for the high prices at the airport. try your local NYC mayor who drives up costs.

What an f’n idiot..first of all airport employees get paid 19 bucks an hour and NOT 15..secondly as Ive seen online there are plenty of croissants for 3 bucks..and if someone wants to pay 7 bucks for one that is their business..if the prices were too high they would eventually lower them, its called capitalism, but to a moron like AOC she doesnt understand that basic fact

.@AOC expresses shock at the high prices of $7 for croissants in a tweet Monday.

In same tweet, she calls for the costs of the inputs to make the croissants to be raised substantially.https://t.co/0hKOTv688G— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) April 1, 2019

------------------------------------------------------

The minimum wage in NYC is already $15/hour.
(Except businesses with 10 or fewer employees, they go to $15 next year.)

That already factors in to the $7 price of this particular airport croissant. https://t.co/vyE3BVeDFk— Brandon Rittiman (@BrandonRittiman) April 1, 2019

Just quickly read a couple articles on the subject of running an airport restaurant. Surprisingly, cortez’ analysis doesn’t talk about the high rents, need to have high staffing due to irregular rushes, high insurance costs, etc that go into operating such a facility

AOC: "Let them eat cake!"

FYI, Sandy: Croisants are a treat, not a staple or human right.

AOC — “Costs of inputs? What the hell does THAT have to do with the price?? Just lower the price. Sheesh, do I have to provide all the brainpower on everything all the time?”

What is the minimum wage at LGA?

AOC calls for a $15 minimum wage at LGA.
Actual minimum wage is $19 at LGA.

AOC complains about $7 (overpriced) croissants at LGA.

WRONG.

These are airport prices.

The fee to get the location is probably the primary cause of this inflated price.prices
