-How vulnerable are the rights we hold dear? It appears they are incredibly vulnerable. In New Zealand, most people believe they have freedom of the press. The government classification office might view things a little differently. After the mass murder at the mosques in Christchurch, the classification office made it illegal for people to view or distribute either the video of the event or the manifesto put out by the killer because it fomented potential violence.
From classification office.gov:
A publication reportedly written by the terrorist behind the fatal attacks in Christchurch, has been officially classified as objectionable.
Others have referred to this publication as a manifesto, but I consider it a crude booklet that promotes murder and terrorism. It is objectionable under New Zealand law, says Chief Censor David Shanks.
The document, examined under the Films, Videos & Publications Classification Act 1993 (FVPCA), is deemed objectionable for a number of reasons.
It promotes, encourages and justifies acts of murder and terrorist violence against identified groups of people, says Mr Shanks.
It identifies specific places for potential attack in New Zealand, and refers to the means by which other types of attack may be carried out. It contains justifications for acts of tremendous cruelty, such as the deliberate killing of children.
The government generously allows journalists and academics to apply to look at the document. All they need do is state their qualifications, intentions, reasons to read the document and pay a non-refundable $102.20 fee. Here is a Link to the form to request a copy while it is still available from online sources.

I don’t care about the Manifesto. I just to see the raw shooting videos.
Does anybody have his manifesto. I would like to read it. link?
Is there food? Im hungry. Get me some.
I have the video and the manifesto... I don’t know if it would offend the owner of FR to post a link, but the writings should be okay. Do any monitors know if that is OKAY?
Another of the unfree countries on the Earth.I just wonder what else the Government of New Zealand will attempt to control.
My God . Why would it not be ok?
Don't waste your time. He was a mentally ill liberal who specifically wanted to use AR 15s in order to get a gun ban....furthering a schism between conservative, Christian, gun owning, law abiding and the government.
If anyone isn't sure what "chutzpah" means ...
Posting or hosting it MAY bring scrutiny and legal troubles. This is no longer 1997.
The Left doesn't want us to read the manifesto because then we'd learn this guy wasn't a Trump supporter.
The narrative is that he is a Trump supporter.
Idiots. Theres a big killers manifesto out there and they arent suppressing it. It was used by the 9/11 crowd to justify their massacre.
I doubt that Jim Rob gives a rip what the Kiwi Kops have to say about what he can and cannot host on FR.
I feared being imprisoned, or refused entry because I had the file.
This is how repression and chilling of free speech works.
I understand. I had a link to the shooting but they killed the link. How does that do any good? I find that offensive in a free country.
In those days, people watched what they said. Public cursing was seen as being disorderly. Kids were careful how they treated the teachers, and teachers were careful about the directions that they led the developing minds. I never heard about anyone smoking marijuana, let alone saw anyone do it.
At that time, a book on how to make bombs, or how to shoot up a school would not have seen the light of day. There are some things that simply are not in the best interests of the public, and need to be suppressed from public view. Our courts have just let the "freedom of speech" tread off into the neverlands that are not fit for decent company. And the route was laid out by liberal anarchists for them to induce the reign of terror, at the end.
Where an anarchic, free-speech, terrorist-breeding sphere of activity has been allowed to develop by a dying society, there is a place for returning to burning some kinds of books, IMHO; as well as jailing their authors and publishers and confiscating their profits.
How free is "free"? I do not think it is freedom to act just any way one wants, to the harm of many others, nor do I think it was the intent of our Founders and their followers.
As I said, the New Zealanders may have gotten hold again of some kind of effective reason for preventing distribution of hurtful information.
Bomb making books were available at that time, as was widespread access to explosives.
Up until 1968, anti-tank and anti-aircraft cannon and ammunition were available by mail order.
We had crime levels about the same as we have now.
What we have seen is the glorification of mass murderers by the Media (giving them fame after their deeds).
We have seen wholesale derogation and rejection of Christian values.
I read it. And one thing I learned that I didn’t know is that he had a third target mosque he didn’t make it to. That one was one of his main motivations because it had been a Christian church that was converted into a mosque. It was a white wooden building that looked like it would be at home on the North Dakota prairie.
