“Theres plenty of evidence Congress would have thrown a hissy fit.”
And there’s zero evidence that Trump would have given a damn since Trump never said or tweeted anything about it. Moreover Sessions handed Trump a resignation letter right after he recused himself and Trump refused it.
“Lindsay Graham told Trump there would be hell to pay if he fired Sessions, and that Congress wouldnt approve a replacement - obviously out of spite.”
The only people who think that would have been a problem for Trump are those who don’t know what’s in The Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998, (5 U.S.C. § 3345).
What Sessions didn't do is tell Trump he was going to recuse himself BEFORE he was nominated. An act of omission as treacherous as any swamp maneuver.
As Trump himself has said 'if I'd known he was going to recuse I wouldn't have nominated him'.
