The sentiment in the public was of doubt and did not bolster Trump.

They used the allegations as a reason to not do anything and hold Trump hostage. That's exactly my point. This was all nothing but an excuse for them. Congress wasn't going to do any of those things anyway.

Not just Congress but also foreign relations. Foreign countries see this nonsense and think they can wait out a distracted POTUS.
