Bible in a Year: 2 Samuel 2122; Luke 18:2443
Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3
When our grandson Jay was a child his parents gave him a new T-shirt for his birthday. He put it on right away and proudly wore it all day.
When he appeared the next morning in the shirt, his dad asked him, Jay, does that shirt make you happy?
Not as much as yesterday, Jay replied.
Thats the problem with material acquisition: Even the good things of life cant give us the deep, lasting happiness we so strongly desire. Though we may have many possessions, we may still be unhappy.
The world offers happiness through material accumulation: new clothes, a new automobile, an update to our phone or watch. But no material acquisition can make us as happy as it did yesterday. Thats because we were made for God and nothing less will do.
One day, when Jesus was fasting and faint with hunger, Satan approached Him and tempted Him to satisfy His hunger by creating bread. Jesus countered by quoting from Deuteronomy 8:3: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
Jesus didnt mean that we shouldnt live only on bread. Hes rather stating a fact: Were spiritual beings and thus we cant exist on material goods alone.
True satisfaction is found in God and His riches.
Why do material acquisitions not provide long-term happiness? What have you learned from past expectations?
Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
We made it through hump day. Is your week going well? Plenty of rest?
Hi Everybody!

Spent 6 months in the Sinai with the MFO AVN Co at South Camp (Sharm el Sheikh). Our sister unit at North Camp (el Arish) were Anzacs. A finer group of men you’ll not find. Friendly and hospitable to a fault (I left a large portion of my liver in the Anzac Club and never spent a penny). Fearless and Fierce to their enemies, I was always glad they were on our side. Happy Anzac Day my friends!
God Bless our Australian and New Zealand friends and allies!

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...have the rains stopped? Puddles for Penny to accidently step in?
Attended several morning services and marched with the ladies auxiliary. Had several “Go Yank” yelled at me. Beautiful day that was.
Today was a beautiful day, but the woods are still a mess. So Penny and I walked the old runways at the decommissioned Naval Air Station nearby. Miles and miles of empty concrete paths, ruins of control towers and Hollywood sets (from “Patriot Day”) and very few other walkers.
“God Bless our Australian and New Zealand friends and allies!”
I’ll second that and while you are at it, get rid of that snot Jackarinda Cistern ...or whatever the hell the New Zealand premierette’s name is.
G’Day, Janey...((HUGS))...I just happened to be there for ANZAC Day and enjoyed a parade.
Evening, Kathy! Happy Passover week!
