A measles quarantine was ordered Thursday at two public universities in Los Angeles in an effort to try to prevent the spread of the highly contagious disease. The order was issued at UCLA and Cal State LA for students and staff exposed to a confirmed case of measles and who cannot prove they have been vaccinated against the highly contagious disease. Those students and university employees, numbering more than 100, were being ordered to stay home, avoid contact with others and notify public health officials if they develop symptoms... The news comes at a time when measles cases in the United States have surpassed the highest number on record since the disease was declared eliminated nationwide in 2000. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday confirmed the milestone, saying the agency has counted 695 cases in 22 states this year.

Early this morning on F&F, they were discussing the link between these eradicated diseases and the invasion of illegals. Also, the high number of anti-vaxers in CA.

Those of us who are old enough to have had measles, mumps and chicken pox see this as a giant control scam.
Obvious discrimination based on pathophobia.
Don't leave out the anti-vaxers.
There are good reasons we vaccinate against diseases many of us had as kids.
Measles can cause deafness and brain damage, mumps can leave boys sterile, and rubella can cause birth defects in unborn children.
Until the MMR vaccine was developed in the 1960s these were real public health challenges. I’m sure you don’t want them back.

If you’ll bother to read the insert of the MMR vaccine you’ll find that it’s “Six of one and half a dozen of the other”.
Measles, mumps and chicken pox are relatively benign diseases in children. However they are often catastrophic in adults. When the vaccines became available , there were some scientists who felt immunizing children may have been somewhat misguided and the vaccines should have been given primarily to adults who demonstrated no immunity. The problem of course is that large numbers of people are entering the US as adults with no immunity. Also some are concerned that the vaccines people received as children may begin to “wear off” as these children enter their forties and fifties. Stay tuned.
Quarrantine the whole state!
Thank God it is only at UCLA and CalState and they aren’t talking about the Thousands of Illegal Aliens pouring across the Southern Border DAILY with a Multitude of Highly Infectious Diseases once eradicated from this Country.

Honest legal immigrants have to have medical checkups. Illegals sometimes carry diseases from Third World areas and are certainly not coming in for medical checkups as they make their way across the borders illegally.
Some immigrants never owned a toothbrush, a washcloth or toilet paper. Many come from Arab countries as well as Hispanic countries. Judges stopped Trump from curtailing known terrorist countries from sending people through.
Tuberculosis, hepatitis, measles and many more are found in children sitting in classrooms and adults at homeless shelters, on buses or at welfare centers.
When my late mother in law taught elementary school the school system had special instruction days on how to wash with soap, brush their teeth, shampoo their hair, have their dirty clothes washed and so on. Each child was given a bar of soap, shampoo,etc. to take home.
They targeted the hundreds suddenly there from the Middle East but she said it was considered discrimination if only they were singled out, so all kids had to be taught together. She said they had to do something because the body odor of the kids caused them to be shunned and ridiculed.
But we give sanctuary to the measles.
UCLA is located in Westwood, which also has a sizable Orthodox Jewish community of which several do not believe in vaccinations.
As for UCLA, the number I’ve heard reported is closer to 300. “Nearly 300 quarantined in measles scare at 2 Los Angeles universities.”
