The United States Border Patrol says it has rescued dozens of migrants who've tried to cross a swift-moving Rio Grande.
Agents in the Del Rio area say they have rescued more than 60 people from the river. The Rio Grande is expected to approach and remain at flood stage for the next several weeks due to an increase in water release from Amistad Dam, according to a statement.
Most of the rescues happened when immigrants became stuck on an island in the middle of the Rio Grande. Most of the migrants appear to be from Central America, including some unaccompanied minors.
"Crossing the Rio Grande River is extremely dangerous under the best of conditions," said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Raul L. Ortiz. "With the increased water levels, the river is running faster and higher than normal making any attempt to cross the river even more treacherous. Thanks to our agents vigilance, these attempted crossings did not result in the loss of life."

The flow never stops.
They’re invaders.
To claim them as anything different is a lie.
Screw the MMS for their lies.
The BP probably did - the Mexican police probably told them “So sorry senor, they are not our people we can do nothing ”
This seems like a problem that would have resolved itself.

Agenda much, senorita?
Dump them back in Mexico.
Exactly. BP complains they’re being overwhelmed. Stop bringing them to the US side. Drop them off on the Mexican side or let ‘em drown.
Why are they releasing water from Lake Amistad? It is 27’ below full pool. Summer is coming and the lake level needs the water now in order to sustain it for fall crops in the valley.
Also, someone needs to keep the Mexicans from stealing the water. They have been taking more water out than what was agreed upon in treaties.

This very racist of the US to endanger so many innocent lives by creating an attractive nuisance. We should be building bridges not building walls. /S
