President Trump tweeted Saturday that Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano met with him and urged the president to nominate Napolitano to the Supreme Court, as well as grant a pardon to one of the judge's friends.
Napolitano, a former superior court judge in New Jersey, currently works as a legal analyst for Fox News. In a pair of tweets Saturday evening following his campaign rally in Green Bay, the president accused the commentator of becoming "very hostile" after Trump supposedly turned him down for the nation's highest court.
"Thank you to brilliant and highly respected attorney Alan Dershowitz for destroying the very dumb legal argument of Judge Andrew Napolitano," Trump wrote.
"Ever since Andrew came to my office to ask that I appoint him to the U.S. Supreme Court, and I said NO, he has been very hostile! Also asked for pardon for his friend. A good 'pal' of low ratings Shepard Smith," the president added, referring to the afternoon host of Fox's newscast that has often been critical of the White House.
The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on when the conversation with Napolitano occurred, or to whom the Fox News commentator had supposedly asked Trump to pardon.
Trump frequently showers praise on Fox News figures that are seen as allies of his administration, including Dershowitz who has frequently defended the president amid the now-concluded investigation into Russian election interference and his campaign.

Two great posts, EEE, but you know that.
Succinct, factual and to the point! (Applause)
Much of conservative AND independent America loves him as is.
No temperament alteration needed.
Temper?
Attack, attack, attack. the president does not need the counsel of wimps that fear living and love kumbaya
You’re kidding me right! I won’t call him judge, because he compromised that title by hate for Trump and going on news shows misrepresenting and outright lie about the law. Who has his back, but Trump.
Go, Trump.
Well, well, well
Fox needs a new legal analyst
Turn if the TV when Nappy comes along.
Don’t forget to put your pink panties on today.
I’m sure he’ll find another sewer pipe to stick it in.
Judge Napolitano has been wrong many times in his sour grapes opinions about President Trump. He let’s his emotions interfere with his legal reasoning...a poor characteristic for a judge.
Even if Napolitano is not stupid, or legally inept, he clearly lacks good judgment. Even a casual observer knows that the President will strike back when he is attacked. His primary opponents, and the Left, have learned this lesson repeatedly since 2016. They also have learned that when the President attacks with facts those facts turn out to be true. Napolitano should have realized that his attacks on the President and his “analysis” of the Mueller Report would not go unchallenged by the President. As a consequence, Napolitano has been exposed as a disgruntled opportunist who is angry because he didn’t get what he wanted. Napolitano’s lack of judgment is revealed by his failure to abide by the old rule that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
...as a judge
There should be a YT video, "Watch Judge Nepolitano destroy Judge Nepolitano"
It is a myth that a supreme court justice has to be a great legal mind. The Constitution does not specify qualifications for Justices such as age, education, profession, or native-born citizenship.
Not Judge Napolitano (because he is an idiot), but the court could use a few intelligent people who have lived outside a circle of lawyers (some of scummiest people on earth). People with common sense and with real-life experiences. Someone to stick up for the working class and people struggling to achieve the American Dream. Not people that rule in high castles and think they are better than us because they sit in Judgement.
I would argue legal scholars have ruined our current society.
I still support Trump.
He is our President and he has done a lot of good.
I want him to continue into a second term.
But, I stand by my criticism of his tweet about Napolitano.
And further, I am just as disappointed in most of the Freeper comments about my criticism. Much of it is also not befitting grownups.
Yep....I’ve said that SEVERAL times, on this forum.
But, we now know that he went begging to POTUS, and got his knees cut off!
I agree with you. I’d pull Freeper names out of a hat to replace a majority of the justices on the court today.
When in who? It has been very true that Napolitano has been increasingly an extremely hostile to Tump. Interesting to see that there is a reason behind it.
Is he out of the closet? Now Sheps friend? Is homosexuality a job requirement in media?
