Doesn't Barr have the authority to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate this, the greatest and most dangerous political scandal in US history?

Why would he not, considering the overwhelming evidence, and especially now that the Congressional Democrats have made such a display of revealing to him exactly what they are?

I think Barr is old school and is from another era when the DOJ mostly played it straight and was much more apolitical. The appointment of this last special counsel was clearly “political” and was not a matter of law. Those not involved with the soft coup in the DOJ got what they wanted while the rest of the DOJ, including the newly appointed AG, punted because it was convenient.

Barr is not about convenience. I believe he honestly expects the DOJ to do their job impartially and in that sense, he is the best man for the job because that is the way our system is supposed to work. I want the truth and justice, not partisanship as we have seen for the last 10 years.

Watching him and listening to his confirmation hearing and his testimony before congress it is pretty clear that Barr is a man on a mission. He wants to restore the credibility of the DOJ. The reluctance and opposition within DOJ (what we think of as the “deep state”) is slowly being weeded out or placed on the sidelines. The ship of justice is beginning to turn around despite the constant propaganda.

Horowitz was a man between a rock (congress) and a hard place (the deep state and media) when he issued his last report. It was obvious that he was shocked by what he uncovered, but his report was milquetoast because he did not feel like he was on solid ground. Lest we forget, the special counsel investigation was still looking omnipotent and there were predictions of certain doom for Trump when he issued his report. If you were Horowitz and you viewed your boss (Sessions) as completely feckless in the face of such opposition how far would you stick your neck out?

Based on Barr’s testimony and demeanor, as well as the failure of the haymaker (special counsel), we may see a much more scathing report from the IG this time around with more to follow. The report on Comey will be released soon as will the report on the FISA abuse. All we can do is hope that truth prevails, but I am much more confident with Barr at the helm because I think Barr understands daylight is the best disinfectant to the organization he loves and respects.

Barr said he is working with the OIG and it is pretty clear that Barr himself has issued the marching orders instead of the bureaucrats straddling the fence at best or opposed to the President at worst. Horowitz works for Barr. Period. You have to feel good about that and he does as well because Barr not only has his back, he has pledged to get to the bottom of this mess. Sessions could not even speak in defense of Horowitz despite being his boss because of his recusal.

The situation seems different to me now. It is almost like the smell of ozone before the lightning storm....... If you doubt this, look at the display we just saw from Senate democrats. Look at the change in demeanor and statements from those in the prior administration. There is a wave of fear because they know the evidence is overwhelming and there is ultimately little trust among the co-conspirators. Look at the desperation of the presstitutes who have made outlandish predictions for two plus years as they watch their credibility (and ratings) crumble.

Barr may well be the best appointment by Trump when it is all said and done. I am more optimistic now than I was a month ago and much more than I was a year ago.

Barr is a professional intel/law enforcement type. Barr wants to rebuild the reputations of the Intel Community, DOJ and FBI. Which is why I believe Barr accepted the AG job. He is a career DOJ man, he loves that agency the way I love the Navy and Corps.

IF Horowitz did his job, some heads could role and internal reforms will be made. That is generally the purpose of an IG to internally identify abuses or systemic problems and prevent them in the future. This may satisfy Barr.

IF Barr cannot complete reforms internally based on the Horowitz report, he may call for a Special Counsel to force Congress to act and depoliticize, by law, our intel and law enforcement agencies. Trump may force the same.

The wild card will be the FISA Court Judges, no matter their politics, no judge likes to have his court and authority abused by anyone. If the FISA Court abuse was systemic during the Obama years, a Special Counsel may be called for. Don’t hold your breath, the Obama WH would end up as a target. Before that happened the Dims will suddenly be for new rules to reform the court and prevent its political weaponization. If this happened, there will be a sacrificial a$$, my guess is Lynch or Rice.

The only other situation where I can see a Special Counsel would be the Mueller Investigation. There is another report coming down (according to Hannity) that MAY state when Mueller knew there was NO collusion. If they knew six months in, what were they still investigating? They were guilty of fraud, waste and abuse to try and set a perjury trap for a sitting President.

My thoughts I may be 100% wrong.
