China has expanded its ban on Wikipedia to block the community-edited online encyclopedia in all available languages, the BBC reports.

An earlier enforced ban barred Internet users from viewing the Chinese version, as well as the pages for sensitive search terms such as Dalai Lama and the Tiananmen massacre.

According to Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), an internet censorship research group, the block has been in place since late April.

Says China: “The truth is what we say it is.”

So says Wikipedia. The amount of leftist drivel, lies and outright propaganda on their pages is a crime. Other than the hard science pages, I won't ever use it for any factual information.

Thank goodness the Chinese dictators are throttling their citizens. Chinese people are Asians. Asians are smart.

If it were not for their government keeping them down, they’d own us.

So smart they have to copy or steal our ideas and technology to be successful? Culturally, I'm not that impressed.

When I was in Hong Kong a few years ago I tried to sign on to google to look something up.I entered "google.com" as I always do but, instead, got "google.cn"..."cn" being the code for China.I tried .com over and over but always got .cn.

Having heard about this kind of thing I decided, out of curiosity,to look up "Tienanmen Square" on .cn and got *nothing* but hits showing idyllic images of a peaceful, and empty, place with Mao Tse Tung looking lovingly down from his exalted perch.

Of course when you look it up on .com you get many, many bloody images as well as photos of that guy staring down the tanks and photos of the "Goddess Of Liberty" which looked curiously similar to our Statue Of Liberty.

I don’t trust Wiki at all, knowing how much trouble it is to change inaccurate information on their site, especially business related information.

They need so many “internet sources” to change incorrect information. Trying to prove you’re correct with decades old hardcopy or any legal papers is impossible.

This misinformation gets repeated over and over on other websites because people quote it and because Wiki persists in this misinformation, it becomes “virtual fact” on the internet—even though it’s completely false.

No, there is a lot of opinion in Wikipedia, but it is a forum China is apparently afraid of.

Wikipedia has stopped working for some users in the UK and Europe, and a number of places in the Middle East.
