ELMIRA, N.Y. — Lawmakers in New York are pushing legislation that could make it a crime to text and walk at the same time.
A new bill proposed by the state senate would make it illegal for people to cross the street while staring at their cell phones, according to WABC.
The news outlet reports there’s no clear evidence indicating that the use of personal electronics while walking causes accidents, but New York lawmakers are still considering fines for using them.
Fines can range between $50 to $150 depending on the number of offenses.

One would think it would be easier to pass a law that makes it illegal for cars to hit pedestrians in the crosswalk.
Is it also illegal in New York to chew gum while walking?
I’d prefer that they ban breathing.
Instead of solving real problems....................this is what happens when you don’t vote, Cuomo, delbasio and a whole host of dirt bag street level urban thugs and criminal lawyers solving real problems like racism, islamaphobia transgender rights, gay rights, free college for illegals, filthy dirty city, crime cover-up statistics oh and lets not forget their prize bill texting while walking. heard the budget now includes your tax dollars for their campaign! nice! closing off the glimmer of light for the stupid GOP in the area

Problem is, when 95% of them move, mostly to the South(unfortunately), they bring that BS with them because they’re so much smarter than everyone else.
At this point, you simply refuse to accept their authority to issue such regulations.
We owe them nothing - not respect, not loyalty, not obedience. Nothing.

ha ha ha ha ha.... I have to admit, in the interest of transparency, I’m from Long Island. Been living in Georgia for almost 24 years. Can’t believe I’m from there, sometimes, with the life I live now. But then again, I didn’t have much say in the matter. When I hear and see them now, I want to get as far away from them, as quickly as I can. They come at with their attitude. My accent quickly comes back and I find it easy to put them in their place and politely suggest they move back to the Empire State.
And no talking while on the john.

Almost every time I approach a vehicle in front of me that’s going about 5 MPH under the speed limit, they usually have a phone in their hand....And I can’t even count the times I’m next to a car at a stop light and the driver is looking down texting.....
But crapping in the street? Totally OK.
These people are insane.
