Whew. So many directions to take this one. First off, once millennials hear about this, they'll be stuck in mom's basement forever. And what if you're caught confirming the appointment time for your post-birth abortion? I'm sure certain exemptions will be made. And is it really texting if your thumb never touches the screen? Those cop body cams better be HDTV to capture all that. And will there be insurance to cover cars which hit distracted texters? Shouldn't that be included in the price of the mobile entertainment device? Wow, too many details.

One would think it would be easier to pass a law that makes it illegal for cars to hit pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Instead of solving real problems....................this is what happens when you don’t vote, Cuomo, delbasio and a whole host of dirt bag street level urban thugs and criminal lawyers solving real problems like racism, islamaphobia transgender rights, gay rights, free college for illegals, filthy dirty city, crime cover-up statistics oh and lets not forget their prize bill texting while walking. heard the budget now includes your tax dollars for their campaign! nice! closing off the glimmer of light for the stupid GOP in the area

One would like to ask...How can anyone live there?

Problem is, when 95% of them move, mostly to the South(unfortunately), they bring that BS with them because they’re so much smarter than everyone else.

At this point, you simply refuse to accept their authority to issue such regulations.

We owe them nothing - not respect, not loyalty, not obedience. Nothing.

Why do these dumb politicians think that we can only do one thing at a time?

I'm sure all of them take a cr** and read at the same time.

Almost every time I approach a vehicle in front of me that’s going about 5 MPH under the speed limit, they usually have a phone in their hand....And I can’t even count the times I’m next to a car at a stop light and the driver is looking down texting.....

This is a practice nobody will defend, therefore we will make it illegal and collect lots of fines.

How will they tell if you were just browsing or changing the music on your phone? Wouldn’t that require an illegal search?

Ridiculous. If someone needs to be so oblivious that they’ll walk into traffic without looking or walk into a telephone pole, that’s their destiny. Laws won’t help... but they might generate some civic revenue!

The news outlet reports there’s no clear evidence indicating that the use of personal electronics while walking causes accidents, but New York lawmakers are still considering fines for using them.

Fines can range between $50 to $150 depending on the number of offenses.
