i was a fan for more than 40 years after watching my first Indy 500 in 1972 as a little kid. I finally attended the 500 in 2015, even going to Carb Day- it beat every expectation i had...completely enthralled with it all...

Been there, done it in 1964.
Now on the third and final race in the Memorial Day weekend triple header.
I live 75 miles away and have never seen it. I’m not into huge crowds.
I did go see the museum and rode around the track in a tour bus when a UK friend came to visit. He wanted to see it.
Ive done that and having been a long time fan I found just the tour overwhelming. Going to the race is on my bucket list. One of these days.
Yes- a number of drivers race- but ya gotta have the pro license to race with them unless they are just starting out in iracing and working their way up-
I’ve seen races on youtube with tony stewart- and a few other drivers- you can type their name and ‘iracing’ in the youtube search- and it should give you some videos if they uploaded them- sometimes, people who race against them post their videos
