Dan Bongino describes being a Secret Service agent as a “pressure cooker.”

“Every special agent, whether a supervisor or not, is expected to be able to handle, on a moment’s notice, an assignment where failure could mean the death of a world leader and a corresponding Archduke Ferdinand–like global crisis,” Bongino writes in his new book, “Protecting the President: An Inside Account of the Troubled Secret Service in an Era of Evolving Threats.”

During his time with the Secret Service, Bongino witnessed firsthand how the bureaucratic tendencies of the federal government have infected the agency, impeding it from fulfilling its basic mission. The difference here is the mission is to protect the president of the United States — and failure will fundamentally and unpredictably transform the country.

There is not a single claim in this book that Bongino doesn’t back with stories from his time with the agency or meticulous research. In his telling, “sclerotic management, obsessed with the ‘old way’ of doing things,” a risk-averse resistance to change, and the ever-present bureaucratic problem of mission creep are forces acting to prevent the agency from adequately confronting evolving threats to the nation’s leadership in the modern world.

Is It Time To Brexit The GOP?

Dan Bongino has an OUTSTANDING podcast every day - he’s slso started doing it on video and posting it to his Youtube channel. I am absolutely addicted to his podcasts - start checking my phone around noon to see if it’s there yet (use ‘Talk Right’ app*). Someone on FR asked if there were transcripts, so I emailed - within a day, I got an email back from his wife Paula, regarding my questions.

A couple of things - when you see him on TV, he’s under time pressure. His intensity & seriousness comes across, but not his sense of humor. The guy can be pretty funny. Also, I generally do not like someone else talking - example, Glen Beck’s friends Stu & Pat (back when I was listening, before he went off the deep end). Dan’s producer (& good friend), Joe Armacost, is hilarious. When he and Dan get going, it’s entertaining which is an added bonus because Dan is seriously into the ‘Spygate’ situation & with his SS/law enforcement experience, it adds a lot to what he’s saying/explaining. It’s obvious he loves his family and his country and he’s not shy about his faith. He has said he’s glad he lost his political elections because he feels he can do more good on his current path and I would have to agree.

Anyway, give a listen if you can.

*You can hear podcast on his website or Youtube channel & I’m sure there are other places to hear it. He also posts links to the articles/info sources he’s using/talking about which is informative to be able to go back and read them.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Dan Bongingo. He’s a great guy taking big chances from where he comes from, former intel I believe. It’s tough to refer to raw unconfirmed news which Webb engages in.Problem is if you ignore it, Webb is correct on so many issues,you stay behind with the rest of the media.

He’s a real straight shooter, and triple checks his sources before speaking. A rare commodity in todays “ catch the headline” moment. If presented with the opportunity will bring up Webb with him. Agree. Webb is like a “ seer” on many thing the media won’t dare speak about.

One of the things we did, having had the opportunity to live in Europe for 5 years, work related, was take our kids to several concentration camps so they could see the horrors of war, and the fact that at that time it all happened within the last 50 years.

Todays memory span unfortunately in the “ its all about me” world doesn’t reflect on things like that, so it was important for us to install the memory of our Polish side immigrant grandparents fleeing the Russians, and their grandfather being involved I stopping the atrocity of the Holocaust, etc.

Also my wifes dad being in the Pacific theater , a Purple Heart recipient, who had to make his way back through enemy lines to finally sing “ I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandee” so he could be identified as an American.

That was the code used if one was in that type of situation.

These lessons and citing how my dads father fought in the trenches in Europe during WW I were family memories that we wanted them to know about as they too learned from their European classmates what it was like for a family to live in constant fear due to another nations quest for power.

You were lucky...my father, who was in the Battle of Leyte, never said a word about his experiences...(I found out after his death from a great Uncle)...but, then he had other life traumas that I think affected him more.
