A fourth U.S. tourist died after he fell critically and suddenly ill at an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic about a month before three others died in their rooms, Fox News has learned.
Robert Bell Wallace, 67, of California, became ill almost immediately after he had a scotch from the room minibar at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino resort in Punta Cana, his niece, Chloe Arnold, told Fox News on Sunday. He was in the Dominican Republic to attend his stepsons wedding.

Was it the bill?
If I ever need to fake my death,
I think that’s how I will do it.
I wonder if an autopsy would show any type of poison.
Sad. Maybe those bottles in the minibar have been used before and refilled. And who knows what illness the person had who drank out of it before.
That was not supposed to happen.
I think the hotel may be stocking its mini-bars with tainted alcohol.
either that or there is a serial killer..
Could it be as simple as the help “replacing” what they drink?
“I said no salt, NO salt on my margarita!”
“If I ever need to fake my death, I think thats how I will do it.
Sounds like you’d still need a corpus delicti....
“May I thpeak to you pleath? I athked for a mai tai, and they brought me a pina colada, and I thaid no thalt, NO thalt on the margarita, but it had thalt on it...”
Thooo funny.
Lots of poisons can only be found if someone is actively looking.
The castor oil plant seeds can be used to make ricin pretty easily. I just looked it up; it grows anywhere tropical/subtropical.
The symptoms look like typical food poisoning/travels’ stomach.
Just looked; ricin is also basically impossible to test for. They have to look for anti-bodies.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the DI has a serial killer on the loose.
I’m betting on a serial killer.
Also betting on ricin.
I say it’s a serial killer. Somehow opening these small bottles of alcohol, adding something (maybe fentanyl) and resealing them. People don’t usually check these bottles terribly thoroughly when making a drink, especially when they’re not aware there may be danger. It will be someone working at the hotels - maybe more than one person involved.
100% agree. Serial killer.
A couple died in their room....from natural causes?
Tylenol

Wouldn’t affect me, minibars are total ripoffs.
I look in the fridge for stuff I want, hop a bus to the mercado and stock up for less than a third of the minibar charge, plus some extras.
Set the minibar stuff aside & put my stash in it.
Too bad for these victims but it does sound like serial murder. And then that sports star is shot in the back in a bar. DomRep doesn’t sound too safe and their minister for tourism is sweating bullets on TV.
