Get off I 70. The BAK takes you through the little towns like Wilson and Colby. Wonderful people.

I lived in Fort Scott for a while, as a child. Numerous trips back that way from Oregon, in my teens.

Wow. I hear there’s a woman behind every tree. I was at Homestead for most of my four years. “ Why not Minot?” “ Freezin’s the reason.” was a commonly heard joke. Good luck, and enjoy. November 1, huh?

The poor babies. My dad did two tours at the Pentagon when I was growing up. I think my folks moved nine times. I’m quite certain that he didn’t turn his back on anyone when he got new orders. These spoiled Civil Service types rarely have to move.

For years I’ve believed that it is not a good idea to concentrate every federal agency in DC. This is great. More agencies than just AG need to be relocated away from DC.

“ Why not Minot?”

A golden oldie. My uncle was stationed at Minot, SAC navigator IIRC. They came to visit us once and I spotted an electric plug dangling in front of their car’s radiator. “What the heck is that??”

They had a pet cat. One frigid Minot winter the door bell would ring and no one was there. This went on for a week or so. The neighbor across the street finally asked my aunt “How did you train your cat to ring the doorbell?”. True story.

"For years I’ve believed that it is not a good idea to concentrate every federal agency in DC. This is great. More agencies than just AG need to be relocated away from DC."

It was the MSM first. Shuttered regional bureaus during Bush I.

Then the CEOs who did it, like Roone Arledge (an interesting mix of good and bad in that dude), would lean on Secretary Without Portfolio during DCocktail hour and brag how much he saved ABC by shuttering Chicago, Dallas, etc.

Late Clinton and Shrub then went all-out expanding DC, never line-item, never veto.

Then Bobo went meta expanding taxpayer-funded NGOs as a Democrat branch of regular government.

Stephen Miller (again) to the rescue, explaining to President Trump, "You'll never get these agencies to contract, but you can sure as hell stomp on them like a bug."

One hopes this is a blueprint for second-term internal ops, take Education, Interior, HUD, HHS, and all the NGOs and banish them to the heartland.

Most won't go, and next thing you know, children and grand-children of FReepers in right-to-work states dismantle the AFGE/AFSCME with lawsuits, with a 7-2 SCOTUS overturning decades of bogus labor code, because ... TRUMP.

Not a problem. Adak, Alaska would be much more becoming for these employees.
