“Where can I shoot ground squirrels and prairie dogs for free? Talk to me.”

I know a place outside of Rapid City. When I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB in the early 80’s, we approached a farmer and asked if we can shoot prairie dogs on his land. We would pay whatever he asked. Turns out he asked for nothing, allowed us to shoot and even brought us beer and sandwiches. More than that, he was grateful since the prairie dogs were destroying his property.

For the next two years, my buddies and I would go to his farm and help with chores.

Exclusion works. Opening up every spot of land to everyone ruins every spot of land for everyone.

I will not hunt on public land because three fourths of landless hunters are crazy nuts. I hunt private land owned by intelligent, responsible hunters. The racks only get up to eight points, but they are consistently 24” across and these whitetails weigh 200+ dressed. On public land, if you find any deer, they’re the size of dogs, or soon will be.

If you want a good hunt, you have to own the land.

Of course with the general trend toward communism in this country, all land, public or private, will soon be open to the masses of entitled hunters with no means.

I am sure lawsuits will be filed.

No need. The bureaucrats at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will slow-walk the request

It'll get around to being considered at a meeting where requests for possible consideration and scheduling are planned. Look for action (or not) sometime late this century.

One thing making it Federal land did was keep the billionaires from buying it all up. If it had been state land, there would probably not be any public land left.

I presume 1) you missed the point there is ZERO Constitutional authority for any such ‘Federal’ land (outside the forts, postal roads and the like)? 2) Oh, States would not set up public parks?? 3) We see just how well State and Federal does w/ the ‘stewardship’ of “their” land(s) (wild fires, rivers turning orange+). At least private ownership would be more prone to actually CARING (or be sued for their negligence).

Any bets on how long before the Sierra Club or some other left wing group finds a federal judge to reverse this?

I think they modeled her for the movie "Zootopia", where DNC workers are all sloths

I wonder how many of the petty martinet bureaucrats who run those agencies will continue to find “reasons” to deny access, even when the regs are rescinded.

Good!

Now he can concentrate on permanently removing “Motorized Travel Restrictions” in all federally controlled lands.

We now need to permanently criminalize the clipping of hatchery fish dorsal fins!

There is no legitimate reason for doing it.

Clinton & his Interior Sec—Bruce Babbitt—created a nightmare for people who use public lands.

Babbitt hired thousands of young Environazis & they are still working in that dept, only now they are older.

The damage done to the Federal Lands under Clinton’s administration is endless.

One of the worst decisions they made was “ROADLESS POLICY.

They shut down the hundreds of roads that led into Federal lands. Gates were locked into place at normal entrances & pits big enough to put a school bus into were dug right inside those gates.

The damage was done-—and FIRE CREWS couldn’t get into Federal lands to fight forest fires.

Many subsequent fires could ONLY be fought by ‘Smoke Jumpers’ dropping with parachutes.

The loss of timber & other damages done since 1992 by these policies is impossible to enumerate.

A multiday horseback ride used to be held in the Black Rock Desert area.

The BLM shut it down——because the ‘horse’s hooves were damaging the environment-—but there are multiple wild horses out there. We saw them every night & morning.

I never saw more than 60 riders a day participate in that event.

BUT-—research how many people are allowed to attend the Burning Man activities every year——I can guarantee it is more than the 60 riders I knew.

Um, you haven’t looked at what’s actually already happened.

Remember hearing about the Antelope Wells border crossing in New Mexico? Had a bunch of illegals cross there recently?

That is the least used crossing on the southern border. 45 miles from the nearest town.

Just west of there is a mountain range running north and south about 30 miles long. From the border up to NM9, the first highway from the border.

That mountain range USED to be a National Forest.

There USED to be a highway paralleling the border crossing the southern end of the mountain range just a few miles north of the border.

It’s now owned by, I think the name is, A-Star ranch. The name might be off but the company behind it is right - at least in 2013 when I was down there.
Anheuser Busch. Yep, Budweiser Beer.

So, the Gov HAS been selling it off to the Billionaires - at least if you are the RIGHT billionaires.
