A person helped keep the man suspected of firing several shots afloat after he fell in the water Sunday morning near the Hampton Yacht Club, according to a news release from Hampton police.
Dispatch received a call a little after 4 a.m. Sunday reporting shots fired in the 100 block of Linden Avenue. Officers determined that two men had been arguing inside a home when a single shot was fired. No one was injured and police said the man suspected of firing the gun fled the home.
Police found the man in the water at the Hampton Yacht Club, about two blocks away in the 4700 block of Victoria Boulevard, after several shots were reported in the area, according to the news release.
The man was arguing with a 62-year-old person when he fired several shots, police said. The victim then shot back at the man and he was hit several times, according to the release. The man fell in the water and the victim helped to keep him afloat until police arrived.
