What does that dumb ass know about slavery..
Among a subset of black Americans, that’s all they seem to know about. There was a story a month or so back where a ten-year-old kid attacked people at his school, saying “brought us here in chains”. Now, no one brought him, his parents, his grandparents or even his great grandparents anywhere. Slavery ended in this country in 1865. The legal importation of slaves ended in 1808 (no doubt some were smuggled in after that date). I don’t see a lot of hope in or from them.

Does the ignorant kid know about how his ancestors became enslaved? They were enslaved by other blacks who then sold them.
Does the ignorant kid know about the tens of thousands of slave owners who were black? Some of them were slave breeders. They sold their own children into slavery.

One of my friends is a black man whose grandfather was a slave.
His grandfather was an infant at the time of emancipation; and he was the youngest child of the youngest child.
My generations line up differntly—two Great Great Grandfathers in the G.A.R. and one Great Great Uncle who died in a Confederate POW camp.
