Apple to deny Parler app store access
Parler.com ^ | 6-25-19 | John Matze

Apple contacted me over a week ago via telephone saying that we need to ban “offensive” content off Parler or they will take Parler off the App Store. We flat out refused and now we cannot push updates.

Obviously by offensive they mean conservative content. Twitter is exempt from this clause as they generate more hatred then any platform in history.

Parler is doing it's best to be a conservative alternative to Twitter and Apple doesn't like it.

They did the same thing for Gab.

Twitter also hosts all the hard core porn that tumblr used to host.

...so I’m told.

Hmmm …
Seems to me there’s a mobile phone platform called “Android” … Perhaps disgruntled “Apple” users might want to try it.

Google’s day of reckoning is coming. They are low hanging fruit of political corruption,

Nothing is inherently offensive in itself. PEOPLE get offended by things.

It appears that the offendedness of some people is more important than others.

Android is owned by Google.

Android is owned by Google. Google does a lot of censoring themselves, has now fessed up using censorship and distortion working to keep Trump from being re-elected, and sells your usage data for profit.

There are no good alternatives right now, but I'm keeping my eye on Purism.

The "Parler" app is still available on "Google Play".

I just checked.

The issue here is "Apple" banning the app from their distribution system. Google has not done so. Yet.

Individuals wishing to use the "Parler" app apparently can either beg "Apple" to un-ban it, or switch to the Android platform.

Fruitcake is inherently offensive in and of it’s self. If there were no humans in existence, fruitcake would still be offensive.

Agreed. Sweet potato fries are also inherently offensive, IMHO.

Won’t make a lick of difference ... Google bans stuff they don’t like too.

We don’t have any real choice when it comes to smartphone OSes outside of not using them ... they’re basically the same damn thing. Windows Phone is dead and the various Linux based OSes aren’t very good.

Apple and Google call the shots now. Disgusting.

Did you ask them to supply you with a definition of ‘offensive’ and provide some examples?

“There are no good alternatives right now, but I’m keeping my eye on Purism.”

Assuming it works, that is *exactly* what I want.

I am frigging done with Google and never liked Apple (the Apple chip on my shoulder goes back to the early 80s ... these days, I like to drop an Apple insult here and there just to torque Swordmaker off :-) ).

$649 is a bit steep, but if that means adios Android, it’ll be worth that and then some.

Why force yourself to be subject to them? make it a web app!

I can help with that.

We are already working on another solution.

Come join us. Big names involved.

BIG names.

Parler may have a case here. This would be something that people have been trying to get Apple for that Microsoft was guilty of, anti-trust shenanigans. Ask Netscape how that worked out for them when MS banned the browser from their OS.
