San Francisco passes ban on e-cigarette sales, a US first

San Francisco will become the first US city to effectively ban e-cigarette sales, after the city's board of supervisors unanimously voted in favor of an ordinance Tuesday.

The ordinance says "no person shall sell or distribute an electronic cigarette to a person in San Francisco" unless that product has undergone premarket review by the US Food and Drug Administration. To date, none have.

This includes sales in brick-and-mortar stores, as well as online sales shipped to a San Francisco address. The ordinance also applies to flavored tobacco products in addition to e-cigarettes. The measure does not ban the use of vapes among people 21 and older.

"This is a decisive step to help prevent another generation of San Francisco children from becoming addicted to nicotine," said City Attorney Dennis Herrera in a statement, following the vote.

...... Yup .... Pot is legal in California...... And sales of Marijuana Vaping cartridges are the MOST POPULAR form of pot use in California.

.... Now you can't buy Pot Cartridges in the City of San Francisco .... The city with the largest percentage of Pot smokers in the Nation.

..... Hilarity will soon ensue .....

There are used needles lying all over SF sidewalks, along with human waste and wasted humans - but the beyond-parody leftists in city hall are going to tackle vaping.

They are already taxing the hell out of e-cigarettes they fall under the same category as tobaccos!!! The refill pods in the stores are about $15.00 I buy them on line for $7.00 most of the difference are CA. tobacco taxes!!! CA. has become a fricking cess pool, EVERYONE worth anything is fleeing the state!!! There are homeless everywhere because housing has become far to expensive a damn studio apartment where I am is approx. $1400.00 a month then you have all of your utilities which have also become totally OUTRAGEOUS, homelessness is very wide spread on the west coast because of mild weather conditions same thing is happening all over Hawaii!!! Don’t know why these people don’t head for Mexico, OH I forgot you just can’t simply migrate to Mexico they WONT allow it!!!

America was far better when everyone smoked cigarettes and cigars, and drank whiskey.

When goils was goils and men was men.

Ask that questions to the California voter.

Along with how do they feel on the illegal immigrants exemption from the up coming no insurance tax.

So...e-cigs, plastic bags, straws and toys in happy meals are banned.

But shooting up drugs and taking dumps on the sidewalk is just fine.

Perhaps not so much a dichotomy, as an explanation.

The legalization of M.J. dried up a black-market revenue stream. The outlawing of e-cigarettes at least opens up a black market revenue trickle.

This is hilarious. They can’t stop people from shooting up drugs in the street but hey, let’s ban e-cigs!! Yeah - I’m sure that’ll completely end the sale and use.

Kids addicted to nicotine?

The problem is vapes actually taste good, not like stinky sticks! Kids aren't gonna smoke crap that tastes nasty vs stuff that tastes good. Most adults wont either.

Big tax loss for no tobacco sales.

Why don’t they just ban cigarettes too while they are at it?

I don’t think they can enforce what comes in the US mail. This would violate a number of various questions of federalism and interstate commerce. The federal courts have already overturned statewide bans on things like fois grois as interfering with federal laws.

I am sure though that they want to test this in court and hope the taxpayers in SF are happy to spend the millions it will cost them to find out.

Public urination and defecation are illegal in many ways. It is a crime to do it. They can throw on top an indecency charge and even a sex-crime charge if done in front of a minor.

More than this though, it is a public health matter. It is illegal to dump waste in the city sewers. It infects the water supply and spreads disease. Boaters and campers will be a world of hurt if caught discharging waste like this.

But they don’t want to spend the money it takes to install and manage/clean public facilities. They have the money to do it, they even have the money allocated towards the correct area e.g. homeless shelters etc. But they won’t set aside a few of the millions they spend on homeless shelters and similar expenditures and redirect it towards public toilets.

And as noted, there is something in the psyche of a leftists that is just inverted. They think they are doing good by tolerating the crime of public defecation and they think they are stopping something bad by controlling/preventing what was a perfectly legal activity between two consenting adults.

They go after vaping because it is the pathetically easy and cowardly thing to do in the face of all of San Francisco's problems. Terrible people.

leftists are only about exerting power over everyone. if they could control how many breaths you take, they would.

The ban is just for smoking, one supposes.

If they can load it up in a syringe?

Have at it, just be sure to leave the needles on the sidewalks.
