Thanks, but this is worse, Hoot, mon it’s written in Scots :)
Research baloney. This is a Ruski Spy Unterseeboot.
And watching the futile efforts which would have been extremely difficult for us
A nuke with a crew of only 14?
WWCCD - What Would Captain Crane Do.
Its been 50 years since the last US submarine loss (Scorpion 1968). Knock wood for that.
How many Russian/Soviet subs have been lost in that time? 5 or 6 now?
The Russians are so wasteful of their own people. They have these fatal incidents and their first instinct is to lie. Just like the Kursk.
What I'm getting from the link is that it's 14 dead out of an "estimated" crew of 25.
My son could make friends with a stump and makes friends everywhere he goes. He was depressed at the grueling life he was living where 16 hr days doing little of importance had worn him down physically.
He was such a jerk in High school that I never figured he would make it through power school (I would say that is about the same level of difficulty as a Physics BS.)
I was impressed and proud.
They should have had Jussie Smollett in charge of the navy. He never loses a sub.
I was thinking the same thing.
No kidding.
Turns out this was no average submarine:
The boat was identified by Russian-language news service RBC as Losharik (AS-12), a nuclear-powered submarine that is widely believed to be a key asset for the Russian Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research, also known as GUGI.
GUGI develops and operates a fleet of specialized submarines that Russia uses for deep sea and Moscows most covert operations.
Losharik is among the most mysterious of the closely guarded fleet.

The about 2000-ton boat can travel slung under the belly of a specially modified Delta III nuclear ballistic missile submarine, according to open source intelligence analysts
Anyone remember the Russian nuke sub lost around 1968? US satellites picked up the sinking of it, known only to the US Military.
Howard Hughes built a ship (Glomar Challenger or Explorer)to salvage it, but the sub broke in half upon raising.
The Democrats found out about it during the Watergate hearings, and were told it was not to be made public, yet they lit a shuck to the nearest microphones and spilled their guts to the world.
The Russians, who had no knowledge where the sub sank, then began a constant monitoring of the site.
Wow...very interesting. Thanks, much.
Thanks for posting.
I like how that reads.
I, too, am moved by the horror of their deaths, even if they might've become my enemies some day.
