Except the law doesn't allow Congress access to school records or medical records on request. It does for tax returns. You are exactly correct, though I believe that the original intent was to allow legislators to see samples of returns related to the legislative purpose to hand. If tax returns become political fodder, people will take extraordinary measures to conceal their financial activities, threatening the voluntary income tax system.

Trump is so 4-D Chess smart and he's also clearly a very generous person, seems to care about people.
Because of that - I've harbored this prediction that Trump will likely win in court - but he'll wait (and has been "waiting") - for just the perfect moment.... to voluntarily release his taxes, which will show he's paid more than enough taxes - plus 10's of Millions to Charities, over time!
And have this whole thing blow up in the Rats' faces. They will go ballistic.
Bwah-hahahah - can't wait!!! Trump's awesome. He's always working an angle.... The Rats can't handle him!!! :)
