There are now more active concealed pistol licenses in Washington State than ever before, according to new data from the state Department of Licensing, showing more than 5,000 additional CPLs issued in June and more than 13,750 since Jan. 1, going along with the growing national trend toward more concealed carry.
There are now more than 622,000 CPL holders in the state, a new record.
And that apparently is just fine with the nations police chiefs, according to data from annual surveys conducted by the National Association of Chiefs of Police. In the most recent survey results available, from the 2017 questionnaire, just over 85 percent of responding top cops answered affirmatively to the question, Does your department support nationwide recognition of state issued concealed weapon permits?

Pretty pertinent comments I'd say. I know, I know... butt, butt, butt.................

Good chiefs know that armed citizens are a force multiplier and have saved officer’s lives.
Even unarmed at times. I saved a reserve officer from getting a serious ass whipping from a drunk one time. Only lasted seconds until the back up LEO arrived and took control. A well executed hammerlock. I was lucky. LOL!

I can see far more in the future. Both myself and my wife have a CCP here and I know the arguments for not doing that but in this liberal utopia up here I think its just stupid not to.
Probably 95 to 99.999% of these people will vote for President Trump in 2020!

I hope that John Lott is vigorously compiling stats on guns and crime still.
I used to bicycle commute to DT Seattle and thought about Conceal Carry since I rode the I-90 corrodor from the east side. But There was nowhere to put the gun once I got to work. Now that I drive to Louisville every day (150 miles each way so too far to bike) I can just leave the gun in the car.
BTW, we no longer need a permit here. We can all now CC without it.
I think he was just blocked on YT or Twitter.
The state loves that permit money for a God given right.
NOW bring on the antifa pukes !
Good
Crack down on gun ownership and get more gun ownership and more carry as the state becomes more dangerous to law abiding citizens.
99.9999% will vote for Trump and King County will outvote them all either legally or by fraud.
Sad but probably true!
While standing in line about 2/3rds of the people getting Oregon CPL licenses were WA state residents.
I found that interesting.
The point being that yes there is a dramatic increase in the number of CPL licenses being issues, but part of the increase may be that more and more concealed carry people may want to be licensed in multiple states that do not have full reciprocity.
Whenever anyone asked me about either buying a firearm or getting a concealed carry permit, I usually give them Dave Workman's book on Firearm laws in WA State. If you are putting yourself in a position to use deadly force, then you need to really understand the laws that govern deadly force as they have nothing to do with common sense. I also advise lots of firearms safety training, range time and training.
Buying a firearm and/or getting a CPL doesn't necessarily make you skilled or give you the specialized legal knowledge required to use a firearm.
Personally I want MANY MORE good/well-trained people to carry concealed.
As a former SENIOR CAPTAIN (that is THE senior Ranger) of our Texas Rangers said, “I wish that we had 10 times the current number of licensed firearms owners, as they are among the most mature, sober & law-abiding of our Texas citizens.”

Oregon only issues CPLs to out of state residents in bordering states. My Michigan CPL is not valid there and I wouldn’t be able to apply for an Oregon CPL. On the other hand, my Michigan CPL is already honored in 39 other states.
We ran right over him. Thump! went the front tire; Thump! went the back tire. An ambulance came for the armed speed bump, the Deputy found his own gun, resolved to get a holster with a retention strap, and we set about filling out the paperwork, which took about an hour but was a lot better than being held 3 days for a no-bill from the Grand Jury. I kind of idly wondered if I'd squashed the guy's head.
Nope. Broke his arm and leg, but wasn't running fast enough [Land Rover; parking lot] to really ruin his day, without luck on my side.
Sometimes, I still think like a tanker. But I do my best work as a gunner, not a driver.
The Deputy later remarked that he had never thought of the Landy as being a beautiful vehicle before.
