Iranian Minister of Cultural and Social Affairs Hossein Nejat issued a warning on July 9 that Iran can strike American bases in the Middle East and destroy U.S. aircraft carriers if the United States attacks Iran.
“American bases are within the range of our missiles.... Our missiles will destroy their aircraft carriers if they make a mistake,” Nejat warned. “Americans are very well aware of the consequences of a military confrontation with Iran.”
On May 12, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard, said in response to the U.S. decision to deploy the USS Abraham Lincoln (shown) with Carrier Strike Group 12 and a bomber task force to the Middle East that the action has transformed the U.S. presence from a “serious threat” to “a target.”

Since the Iranians have been kicking up a fuss the price of oil has risen about $4 per barrel. It is still roughly 9-10 dollars below last year’s high when nothing was going on in the Gulf. This says that the market, which is extremely well connected on what happens in the Gulf and what is likely to happen, believes there is no immediate threat of war or even military action.

Within the Persian Gulf those big surface capital ships are at considerable risk. They are safer outside the Gulf. However if the Iranians ever managed to sink or damage any US ship and cause casualties, within an hour many mullahs and their thug “Revolutionary Guards” will achieve their devout wish of martyrdom. Not to mention that their entire nuclear infrastructure will cease to exist as well.
Iran threatens this and Iran threatens that and Iran blahblahblah. All those ragheads know is loudmouth talk. Stomp your foot hard and they run like ink in a rainstorm.
